Requirements
- Be a registered nurse with current licensure in the state where teaching will occur.
- Hold a current graduate degree in Nursing.
- Have at least three years of teaching experience in pre-licensure or post-licensure nursing programs.
- Maintain an active, unencumbered nursing license in the work state or hold compact licensure.
- Have at least three to four years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care, or equivalent experience accepted by the state nursing board and accrediting bodies.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
- Use computer-based resources.
- Attend in person regularly on campus or onsite, up to five days per week.
- Collaborate onsite with students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, manage, update, and evaluate all aspects of the practical nursing program.
- Manage the nursing program budget.
- Manage faculty and staff.
- Serve as a liaison with clinical sites.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum.
- Ensure compliance with Board rules and regulations.
- Advocate for students.
- Develop and maintain program policies and procedures, faculty handbooks, and student handbooks.
- Manage supplies and equipment needed to meet program objectives.
- Ensure compliance with accreditor rules, standards, and regulations.
- Maintain student and faculty records according to established policies.
- Assist with identifying and obtaining outside resources for the nursing program.
- Organize and serve on program committees.
- Ensure compliance with clinical agency requirements for student and faculty initiation of clinical rotations.
- Participate in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, and orientation.
- Participate in conflict resolution for faculty, staff, and students.
- Monitor instructional quality and participate in faculty and program review, evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Maintain membership in and participate in professional associations.
- Advise nursing students and provide academic support as indicated.
