Requirements
  • A high school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • High school algebra and geometry proficiency is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in building systems operations, commercial or industrial building maintenance, and/or heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning and building automation systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • The employee must obtain an Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 Universal Technician Certification and a valid Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period.
  • The employee must successfully complete the probationary period and demonstrate competence in each technical specialty required for the position’s level of responsibility.
  • The employee must be able to push and pull 70 pounds, distinguish colors, and climb and stand on ladders for extended periods.
  • The employee may work in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for extended periods and may work in cramped spaces.
  • A valid State of Ohio driver license is required.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide building support services and inspect, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and replace building systems and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations involving electrical, mechanical, and medical gas disruptions; evaluate and correct problems and initiate appropriate protocols when problems cannot be resolved.
  • Assist other trades as needed while adhering to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Clean and maintain work areas and equipment.
  • Attend meetings and complete documentation.
  • Provide customer service and communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors through written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices.
  • Operate department vehicles.
  • Work a schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends; work overtime and participate in a 24-hour emergency call-in rotation as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate or technical degree or certificate in a skilled trades or maintenance-related field is desired.
  • Two years of experience with Direct Digital Controls and building automation is desired.
  • Two years of experience working on large-scale heating and cooling systems is desired.
  • A boiler operator’s license, such as low-pressure or high-pressure, is desired.
