  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and at least three years of related work experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing; alternatively, a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management and at least one year of related experience. For an MBA, an undergraduate degree in Engineering is required.
  • At least three years of related work experience in the warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing industry.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Beginner-level knowledge of Lean/Toyota Production System core tools and processes, such as 5S, standard work, visual management, and problem solving.
  • Beginner-level understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions, including slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, and metrics.
Responsibilities
  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis; map and document processes; identify process gaps independently; recommend and implement process improvements; and develop and execute continuous improvement plans that deliver customer value.
  • Drive process improvement activities to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development metrics.
  • Manage and complete continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects that improve business results; assess initiatives and recommend future activities; support automation projects; and interact regularly with operations management.
  • Develop competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards for continuous improvement, quality assurance, and Lean principles.
  • Apply engineering methods and tools such as product slotting, labor-standard studies and time studies, layouts, flow optimization, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to improve distribution and transportation operations.
  • Participate in and facilitate value stream mapping and Kaizen events through charter ideation and creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results during Kaizen week, and follow-up to sustain results.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives, and make inventory and supply chain strategy recommendations.
  • Maintain the quality management system based on established company or industry standards.
  • Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system.
  • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
  • Perform all quality assurance functions for a startup or expansion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau, and database programming such as SQL and DAX.
  • Beginner-level knowledge of warehouse design tools such as computer-aided design tools (e.g., AutoCAD), slotting tools (e.g., Slot3D), predetermined motion and time systems and methods (e.g., MOST), warehouse management systems (e.g., Manhattan Scale), and labor management systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of warehouse management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, warehouse types including ambient and temperature-controlled facilities, warehouse layout and design, and Lean methods; knowledge of material handling and automation solutions, including powered industrial truck applications, racking and other storage designs, packaging equipment, conveyor and sortation equipment, and automated storage and retrieval systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of dedicated services and managed transportation networks; equipment types such as dry van, temperature-controlled, flatbed, and specialized equipment; transportation design tools such as JDA and Appian; network design tools such as Llamasoft; transportation management systems such as JDA and OTM; and mapping software such as Tableau.
  • Lean Six Sigma, certified Project Management Professional, and International Organization for Standardization/quality management system knowledge or credentials.
  • American Production and Inventory Control Society and/or supply chain logistics certification.

Ryder beats EPS forecast by 27 cents on 6% rise in used tractor sales

Ryder reports Q1 results Thursday with flat revenue expected
