About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of relevant industry or research experience; coursework and personal projects do not substitute for production or research experience at scale.
  • Hands-on experience running and analyzing AI workloads on multi-node systems, including distributed training or large-scale inference, and measuring resource and time use.
  • Demonstrated performance analysis experience, including building analytical or simulation models of real systems, validating them against measurements, and identifying bottlenecks that led to design or deployment changes.
  • Systems-level understanding across the AI stack, from model and framework behavior through compute, memory, storage, and network.
  • Experience translating research findings and workload analysis into concrete software and hardware specifications acted on by engineering teams.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++ applied to performance modeling, data analysis, and prototyping.

Responsibilities

  • Model complex AI workload performance to identify bottlenecks and recommend system-level optimizations.
  • Analyze new AI models, distributed training techniques, and inference workloads to understand infrastructure requirements.
  • Build simulation and hardware platforms, run real AI workloads on them, and develop analytical tools to evaluate trade-offs across compute, memory, storage, and network behavior.
  • Translate research insights and workload behavior into actionable software, hardware, and networking architecture requirements.
  • Partner with architecture, software, and product teams to influence future networking and AI infrastructure roadmaps.
  • Drive architectural innovation by applying deep workload analysis to production machine learning frameworks.

Desired Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of data centers, network topologies, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with GPU clusters, collective communication, storage systems, and AI networking bottlenecks.
  • Experience with distributed training, distributed inference, or large-scale AI serving systems, including their performance metrics and deployment strategies.
  • Experience in agentic programming and AI tooling.
  • Track record of turning academic research into concrete software, hardware, or architecture requirements, and leading complex multidisciplinary projects with measurable production impact.

About the Company

NVIDIA

Designs the chips and software that power AI

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.
