About the Role

Houzz is looking for a VP of Accounting / Controller to lead our global accounting and finance operations. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the accounting, control, and operational core of the finance function for a US-based company with global operations.

You will be accountable for the integrity of Houzz's financial results and for the processes, systems, and controls behind them. This is a role for a hands-on leader who can set technical accounting positions with confidence and also manage the team, processes, and systems that deliver reliable numbers as we grow. You will lead a team of about 15 people, mostly based in the US.

This is a hybrid role based in our Tel Aviv office, which is close to the train station.

What You'll Do

Accounting & Close

Own the general ledger and the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all entities under US GAAP.
Oversee consolidations, intercompany accounting, multi-currency reporting, and account reconciliations, and deliver accurate results on time.

Israeli & International Compliance

Own statutory reporting and local audits for the Israeli entity and other international subsidiaries. Make sure we meet Israeli corporate, tax, and reporting requirements alongside our US obligations.

Technical Accounting

Serve as Houzz's top technical accounting expert, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 for a subscription business with multiple revenue streams, stock-based compensation, and other complex or judgmental transactions.
Set accounting positions that hold up to audit review.

Billing, AR, & Collections

Lead billing operations, AR, collections, and cash application, and partner with Sales and Product to improve the quote-to-cash process.

AP, Procurement, & Payroll Accounting

Oversee AP, procurement, vendor management, and payroll accounting across the US, Israel, and other countries.

Tax

Oversee US, Israeli, and international direct and indirect tax, transfer pricing, and the tax provision, working with outside advisors.

Cash Management

Manage cash, liquidity, and banking relationships, and prepare cash flow forecasts.

Stock Administration

Oversee equity plan administration, cap table support, and 409A valuations.

Internal Controls & Audit

Design and run the internal control environment, including segregation of duties, and manage external audits in the US, Israel, and wherever Houzz has international operations.

Finance Systems

Collaborate with the Head of Systems to manage the tools and systems the team uses, including NetSuite and Zuora.
Bring automation and AI into the team's work to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Board & Business Partnership

Prepare materials and lead technical accounting discussions with the CFO, audit committee, and board.
Partner with FP&A on results and insights, and with Engineering, Sales, HR, and Legal on processes, policies, and systems.

Leadership

Manage, lead, and develop a team of about 15 people, mostly in the US, working across time zones, and build a team that can support the growth of the business.

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Licensed CPA in Israel or the US (required)
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a Big 4 background
Proven experience leading a full accounting and controllership function (Controller, VP Accounting, CAO, or equivalent) at a mature startup or established global company
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and of Israeli corporate reporting, statutory, and tax rules and regulations
Experience leading the accounting function for US-based companies with global operations, and managing US-based teams
Deep technical accounting expertise, including ASC 606 for subscription businesses
Multi-entity, multi-currency experience, including consolidations, intercompany, and transfer pricing
Hands-on experience with NetSuite
A track record of improving the close, quote-to-cash, and finance systems and processes
Fluent English
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including presenting to the CFO, audit committee, and board
Sound judgment, high integrity, and the ability to handle confidential information and work independently
Advanced Excel skills

Ideally, You'll Also Have

Experience with Zuora or a similar subscription billing platform
Experience building AI and automation tools and implementing them in a finance organization
Background in SaaS, marketplace, or consumer internet businesses
A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach and a positive, team-first attitude

June 16, 2026 Houzz Inc. announced a new suite of mobile communication tools within Houzz Pro. The new mobile capabilities aim to enable pros to capture conversations, document site progress, communicate across language barriers and stay productive, even in areas with no cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity. At the center of the update are new AI-powered documentation tools, including compliant call recording with automatic transcription and summaries allowing pros to capture important conversations about project changes, approvals and next steps with clients and leads, and two-way video walkthroughs that allow teams to document progress with narrated updates that are automatically transcribed and organized within the project. The release also includes multilingual messaging to support communication across language barriers and offline project access for working in areas with limited or no internet connectivity, integrated directly into the Houzz Pro app. "Every project depends on clear communication, yet critical decisions and details are often buried in phone calls, text messages or in-person conversations. By centralizing communication and documentation directly within the project workflow, Houzz Pro helps reduce missed details, improve accountability and keep projects moving forward," said Alon Cohen, Houzz co-founder and CEO. "Advances in Houzz AI have also created new opportunities to turn conversations and videos into searchable transcripts and actionable next steps. With these new mobile tools, pros can automatically capture and organize critical project information, creating a reliable record that keeps teams aligned and reduces miscommunication helping projects run more smoothly." The feature aims to help reduce manual note-taking and ensure important details are not lost. * Two-Way Video Daily Logs: A new camera walkthrough mode enables pros to capture both the jobsite and the speaker simultaneously, enabling field teams to document what was completed, why decisions were made and action items in a single recording. Houzz AI automatically transcribes the video and organizes it within the project files, transforming a traditionally multi-step documentation process into a single action. * Translations for Messages: Pros, teammates, clients and subcontractors can communicate more effectively across language barriers with built-in translations for Messages and Daily Logs. With 10 languages standard in-app, pros can choose automatic or manual translations and view translated text alongside the original message or replace it entirely for a simpler view. * Offline Mode: Pros can access project information and create typed or voice notes when working in areas with limited cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity. Ideal for remote locations, new developments, basements and other low-connectivity environments, Offline Mode automatically syncs information once a device reconnects, ensuring productivity continues uninterrupted wherever work happens. The two-day program, set for Aug. 26-27, will explore a range of topics, including influencer collaborations that drive sales; limits of AI imagery; putting community relations into public relations; polishing your crisis communications strategy; and marketing's role in promoting product safety. Leading this exploration will be Pamela McNally, a senior marketing executive at Houzz, the community of more than 3 million building, remodeling and design professionals and more than 70 million homeowners and home design enthusiasts around the world. McNally will offer findings from surveys of more than 20,000 Houzz users, including more than 10,000 U.S. homeowners currently renovating or with plans to begin projects in the next year.
