Requirements
  • An APRN must have a Master's degree with an Advanced Practice Nursing Focus and National Board Certification.
  • A PA must have a Master's degree and the appropriate National Certification.
  • An APRN must hold National Board Certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist matching the scope of practice.
  • A PA must hold National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • An APRN must hold a current Ohio Board of Nursing license.
  • A PA must hold a current Ohio License 50RX with prescriptive authority.
  • The provider must be able to communicate and relate well with staff, providers, and the public.
  • The provider must maintain patient confidentiality, follow physician directions, and work autonomously with little direction.
  • The provider must demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships, critical analysis, multitasking, stress management, assessment, diagnosis, critical thinking, and care-plan implementation skills.
  • The provider must maintain competencies and skills in the specialty practice area.
  • The provider must use clinical reasoning, build collaborative intra- and interprofessional relationships, advocate for the patient population and profession, and participate in the health policy process.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct primary care health services using evidence-based practice, research, and current clinical knowledge.
  • Maintain an independent clinic schedule of patients, with possible empanelment.
  • Take histories, perform clinical assessments and physical examinations, enter orders, document care, interpret diagnostic studies, diagnose conditions, provide treatment, and evaluate care for the assigned population.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and in partnership with supervising or collaborating physicians.
  • Perform assigned on-call and weekend duties.
  • Complete physician and advanced practice provider quality assurance chart reviews, including 25 charts for a new graduate and 10 charts for an established provider, keeping the reviews at the practice location.
  • Evaluate signs and symptoms, including age-appropriate changes, and document pertinent positives and negatives.
  • Assess complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients and obtain comprehensive and problem-focused histories using collateral sources as necessary.
  • Develop and reformulate prioritized differential diagnoses, identify comorbidities, and use diagnostic strategies and technical skills to monitor and sustain physiological function and ensure patient safety.
  • Participate in daily team transition huddles to coordinate patient care.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, reconcile medications, implement treatment and referral orders, and interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Monitor and ensure healthcare practice quality through consultation, collaboration, continuing education, certification, and evaluation.
  • Improve personal practice and participate in interdisciplinary peer and colleague review.
  • Adapt teaching and learning approaches to patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, cognitive, health-literacy, environmental, and resource needs.
  • Collaborate professionally to identify processes and principles that meet quality metrics and documentation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
