Responsibilities
  • Get to know residents and be available in the office, virtually, and at programs.
  • Respond to students in a timely manner, especially students in distress.
  • Demonstrate respect for residents with different lifestyles and opinions.
  • Become familiar with campus resources and appropriately guide students.
  • Survey residents to gather feedback and improve the housing program.
  • Develop and enhance the Residential Curriculum and Living/Learning Communities by planning and executing student-development events.
  • Assist with weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly staff meetings, including forming agendas and running meetings with Resident Directors.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to CAs/RAs and assist with their evaluations.
  • Assist with recruiting CAs/RAs and the selection process.
  • Assist with overseeing CAs/RAs' programming to ensure programs meet goals and are properly conducted.
  • Help ensure programs are properly spaced and do not conflict with campus events.
  • Respond to policy-violation issues and document them as needed.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for lower- and medium-level alleged student-conduct violations, or as needed.
  • Serve in the emergency on-call rotation for RA support.
  • Follow duty requirements while on call.
  • Document incidents and submit incident reports.
  • Follow procedures when responding to on-call incidents and contact Public Safety, 911, or the administrator on call as needed.
  • Work with Resident Directors on check-ins, check-outs, student moves, and roommate mediations.
  • Notify Maintenance and Housekeeping of issues and concerns and follow up on those issues.
  • Assist in overseeing Residence Hall Commons front-desk operations.
  • Participate in Student Staff and Professional Staff training in August and January.
  • Attend bi-weekly professional-staff meetings and one-on-one meetings.
  • Participate in other offered professional-development opportunities.
