About the job

Requirements
  • Build AI and large language model applications for production use in systems relied upon by internal teams or customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to take ideas from proof of concept to hardened, scalable, maintainable production systems and understand what changes between those stages.
  • Have a proven track record of delivering software to production in a regulated environment under governance, risk, compliance, and audit controls, such as financial services or a similar setting.
  • Have hands-on experience building agentic AI systems where models reason, plan, call tools, and take actions, including multi-agent and agent-to-agent coordination, Model Context Protocol integration, and controls and safety mechanisms for trustworthy autonomous behavior.
  • Understand identity and access for AI agents, including authentication, delegated authority to act on behalf of users, non-human or service identities, and the authentication, authorization, and auditability required in regulated environments.
  • Have strong software engineering fundamentals for building reliable, observable, testable, and maintainable systems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, move between business conversations and technical design, and work directly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity, working close to business users, shipping solutions, and iterating.
Responsibilities
  • Take ideas from rough concepts or business problems, validate them with prototypes, and engineer them into reliable, scalable, production-grade systems.
  • Design, implement, deploy, and evolve autonomous and tool-using AI systems for internal and customer-facing use, owning their lifecycle and outcomes.
  • Design agent orchestration architectures, including single- and multi-agent systems, tool and function calling, Model Context Protocol and agent-to-agent coordination, planning and reasoning loops, memory, agent identity and access, and controls and safety mechanisms.
  • Assess problems individually and select suitable models, agent patterns, and architectures rather than forcing them into one template.
  • Track emerging models, agentic frameworks, techniques, and tools; prototype them, assess their readiness, and bring appropriate options into production.
  • Ship software to production on time and to a high standard while meeting regulated-environment controls, governance, and compliance expectations.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, shape the roadmap, and translate business goals into working AI capabilities.
  • Define standards for agentic AI quality, evaluation, observability, and responsible AI practices, and serve as a trusted technical authority for AI delivery across the organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • Use retrieval-augmented generation to ground responses in trusted organizational knowledge.
  • Define, measure, and improve evaluations of AI and agent behavior quality and reliability.
  • Apply guardrails and safety practices, including input and output filtering, hallucination mitigation, controls on autonomous actions, and responsible AI practices.
  • Use prompt and context design, memory, and other techniques to shape reliable model and agent behavior.
  • Select appropriate models, agent patterns, and architectures based on the problem.
  • Lead architecture across teams and set technical direction for other engineers.
  • Keep up with emerging technology and distinguish production-ready solutions from hype.
  • Build customer-facing AI systems that external customers use, meeting additional expectations for safety, trust, and polish.
  • Have exposure to agent-driven and AI-generated user interfaces that agents render, drive, or adapt dynamically.
