Panera Bread releases statement, mum on reason behind closure in Dillon.

Panera Bread releases statement, mum on reason behind closure in Dillon. The restaurant chain thanked the community but offered no explanation for its decision to shutter the cafe after three years in business. NewsNews | Oct 29, 2026 Panera Bread has confirmed the permanent closure of its Dillon restaurant but declined to provide a specific reason for shuttering the business less than four years after opening. The Panera at 257 Dillon Ridge Road closed in early October, roughly three and a half years after first welcoming customers in April 2023. "After a couple years of serving the Dillon community, we have made the difficult decision to close our Dillon Panera Bread cafe," Jennifer Arnold, the company's director of non-traditional sales and marketing, said in a statement provided to Summit Daily News. "This decision was not made lightly," Arnold stated. "Over the years, we have had the privilege of being part of your daily routines, family gatherings, business meetings and special moments." She didn't respond to a request for comment on what prompted the closure at this time or how many workers the Dillon restaurant employed. "As the needs of our guests continue to evolve, we are making changes to better serve our communities," Arnold stated. The town of Dillon also has little information about the closure. In response to a public records request, Town Clerk Adrienne Stuckey said the town had not received any communication from Panera representatives regarding the business's closure. Road signs stationed along Interstate 70 near the Silverthorne exits still advertise the Panera location. Oct 29, 2026

These construction projects are helping improve Binghamton University's campus.

These construction projects are helping improve Binghamton University's campus. Posted on October 19, 2026 Binghamton University is in the middle of a building boom, with projects both on and off the main campus preparing for the future and providing new spaces for students to live and learn. Here's a closer look at eight of the key construction and renovation projects, where they stand and how they're poised to transform our campus. Chenango room addition/panera Bread. The renovation project at the former Chenango Dining Room opened Oct. 6, with the new upstairs dining room renamed The Collegiate, and the new event space renamed the Susquehanna Room. The redesigned dining space can seat approximately 50 people and primarily serves lunch. Adjacent to that space, the new event venue, complete with seating and a retractable stage, will accommodate nearly 200 people. The project's first phase, a new 3,846-square-foot Panera Bread cafe located on the Spine and connected to Science I, opened Aug. 10. Panera serves its popular menu, including sandwiches, soups, and salads, to members of the campus community. East Gym addition. One look inside the 75,000-square-foot addition to the East Gym and you'll instantly know: it was built to play! We proudly unveiled the expansion Aug. 19, a project that was driven heavily by student feedback. In addition to a 40% increase in fitness space with all-new strength-training equipment, it includes a 200-meter, three-lane indoor track and three hardwood courts for basketball and volleyball. The expansion also features four multipurpose rooms that host group fitness classes, club sport practices, staff training, internships, and certification programs. Events Center. A $10 million renovation project that began after Commencement ceremonies in May is expected to be finished before the men's and women's basketball teams open the America East conference. The project includes the replacement of the entire event-level surface, six track lanes, basketball court, and bleachers. It's the first major upgrade since the Events Center opened in 2004. University Hall. University Hall, the brand-new classrooms and lecture hall on the west side of campus, is fully enclosed with interior construction work underway. When University Hall is complete in fall 2027, it will add about 2,000 seats through a 300-seat lecture hall, a smaller 180-seat lecture hall, 23 general-purpose classrooms, three computer classrooms, and an information commons. The lecture halls won't feature just a few seats reserved for those with mobility impairments - every single seat will be fully accessible. Classes will begin to meet there in the spring 2028 semester. Nelson A. Rockefeller Collegiate Center. This project will add approximately 5,400 square feet to the University's existing Nelson Rockefeller building in Hinman Commons and is scheduled for completion in summer 2027. It will feature a new Fleishman Skills Lab, a multipurpose room, supporting offices, and a student lounge. During the fall 2026 semester, construction teams were focused on enclosing the structure to allow for interior work to proceed through the winter months. Once completed, the expansion will support current students preparing to enter the workforce by allowing them to develop essential professional and interpersonal skills, build connections, and prepare for success beyond graduation. It will also serve as an avenue for prospective students to explore opportunities available at Binghamton. Grace Hall. When complete, Grace Hall will be a 362-bed, suite-style residence hall with shared living spaces and private bedrooms, bringing more than 8,000 beds in Binghamton University's residential programming. Grace Hall is scheduled to be completed in summer 2027 (just in time for the fall 2027 semester move-in day). It will be part of the Mountainview residential community. Oneida Hall. After a yearlong renovation, Oneida Hall at College-in-the-Woods reopened to students in August with a host of new additions. New single-use bathrooms were installed, along with updated furniture, a new kitchen space and a classroom. Other upgrades included asbestos abatement and replacement of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. NENY Battery-NY Prototyping and Commercialization Center. The roughly 97,000-square-foot Johnson City Center will be the new home of the NENY Battery-NY Prototyping and Commercialization Center. The space, scheduled for completion in spring 2027, will help advance research and development of lithium-ion batteries through specialized spaces and industry collaboration. Lithium-ion batteries are essential for modern technology - for everything from electric vehicles to satellites. The facility includes 23,000 square feet for prototyping, as well as cell assembly, formation, aging, and testing. Have questions, comments or concerns about the blog? Email us at [email protected].

McDonald's serves fast food with fast Wi-Fi. McDonald's outperformed major competitors on both speed and consistency WASHINGTON Sept. 30, 2026 - McDonald's serves yummy french fries. Its Wi-Fi is pretty tasty, too. Related to what you are reading now McDonald's Wi-Fi service offers the fastest reliable, high-speed internet among major quick-service restaurants, QSRs, according to a Sept. 30 report from Ookla. Ookla's Speedtest, a popular service that measures internet connection, reported that McDonald's outperformed major competitors on both speed and consistency. It surpassed Starbucks by delivering median download speeds nine times faster and median upload speeds seven times faster. Ookla additionally ranked McDonald's Wi-Fi second overall among national QSRs ahead of Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Panda Express. Panera hires operations and supply execs to support turnaround.

Panera hires operations and supply execs to support turnaround. The chain onboarded Chris Finazzo as COO and Victor Siqueira as chief supply chain officer, both RBI alums, as it continues an ambitious overhaul. Published Sept. 29, 2026 Dive brief: * Panera Bread has appointed Chris Finazzo as chief operating officer and Victor Siqueira as chief supply chain officer, according to a Monday press release. * CEO Paul Carbone said the two executives would play significant roles in advancing Panera RISE, a turnaround program Carbone announced last fall. * Both executives bring substantial restaurant experience to the fast casual chain, which could help it as it seeks to reach $7 billion in sales by 2030. Dive insight: Finazzo joins the company from United Parks & Resorts, which owns SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. Finazzo spent five years at the parks company as chief commercial officer, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, he spent more than seven years with Burger King, rising to be president of the burger brand's North American operations. In that role he "oversaw marketing, operations, franchising, field operations, finance and development for nearly 10,000 restaurants across the United States, Canada and Latin America," according to the press release. In a LinkedIn post, Finazzo said he looked "forward to spending time in our cafés, learning from our team members and franchisees." Finazzo will use lessons drawn from this learning period to "sharpen execution in our cafes, deepen consistency across the system and deliver the kind of guest experience that keeps our guests coming back," according to the press release. Last year, Carbone said Panera's turnaround would depend on operational changes that improved order accuracy and on making back-of-house labor more efficient. Siqueira joined Panera from Oakberry, an açaí berry bowl and smoothie brand. He oversaw Oakberry's supply chain efforts and consumer packaged goods division while the brand grew from 300 locations to 1,100 stores in about 50 countries, per the press release. Like Finazzo, he brings experience from Restaurant Brands International, where he served as VP of supply chain at Tim Hortons. He also worked at Popeyes and Burger King. This experience with substantial multi-national brands could help Panera as it tries to improve its menu. Siqueira succeeds Gregg Waterman, who led Panera's supply chain operations starting in 2020, according to Waterman's LinkedIn profile. Panera has made several major changes in the last few months. In July, it limited the previously unlimited Sip Club. In August, the chain named a new CMO and overhauled its rewards program, abandoning its longstanding surprise-and-delight system for a points-based model.
