As the Regional Communications Lead, you will primarily be responsible for helping develop and drive communication strategies outside of the U.S., supporting consumer-lifestyle narratives aimed at increasing awareness and adoption of Reddit around the world. You will, at times, also work closely with other members of the communications team (e.g., corporate, policy, advertising) to provide localized counsel and support..
The role will sit on the Consumer, Product, and International Team, a team focused on growing awareness for Reddit amongst new and existing users and amplifying product narratives in the media.
You will work closely with key stakeholders from the international growth and community teams and manage local external communication agencies to drive meaningful press coverage mapped to Reddit’s business objectives.

This role can be based out of our London office or Remote in the UK.
The Global Consumer Communications Manager role will be focused on three areas:
70% - DEVELOPING, EXECUTING, & MEASURING COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGIES TO REACH NEW AND EXISTING USERS IN KEY MARKETS OUTSIDE THE U.S.
- Partner with the Global Lead, Consumer Communications and key stakeholders to develop comms strategies with a strong consumer focus.
- Act as day-to-day operational agency lead as it relates to overall management and support of portfolio work, contract renewals, and RFP processes.
- Identify consumer storytelling opportunities that will drive new users to the platform.
- Build and foster local media relationships.
- Manage newsjacking/trendspotting pitching efforts.
- Develop press materials as needed i.e. reporter education decks, etc. and assist with the collection of platform data for storytelling opportunities.
- Help manage press inquiries for Reddit users and communities and conduct outreach to interview subjects.
- Conduct media relations activities when necessary, i.e. reporter meetings, pitching, etc.
- Manage and distribute press newsletters in key markets, seeking out areas for improvement to increase impact.
- Build quarterly reports with Consumer and Product Comms Leads.
- Partner with Global Lead, Product Communications on product launches that require global support and help drive press strategies with agencies. Conduct media outreach for launches when necessary.
20% - OVERALL MARKET SUPPORT
- Manage inbound press inquiries, lead local press announcements, and support other communications teams’ (e.g., corporate, policy, advertising) media outreach for stories related to Reddit’s business outside the U.S.
- Where and when appropriate, help manage select/targeted thought leadership opportunities that offer press coverage aligning to business objectives.
10% - EMERGING MARKETS MONITORING AND SUPPORT
- Serve as comms sherpa for new market entries, helping develop plans with key members of the communications team and managing the hiring of new agencies.
- Stay abreast of growth team activities and monitor press coverage to help with planning and evaluation of future comms support in new markets.
What We Expect From You:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- Fluent in English and at least one other language; preference for French, German, Spanish or Portuguese.
- 8+ years of experience working in consumer communications outside of the U.S. with demonstrated experience in executing brand and consumer/lifestyle communications strategies as well as experience working across different cultures, languages, traditions, current events and more.
- Passion for storytelling, pitching, and building media relationships across a variety of beats, including pop culture, style, sports, entertainment, tech, corporate and more.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, strong execution skills and an ability to take initiative and drive projects independently
- A mix of analytical and creative - someone who is adept at spotting inefficiencies and scaling efforts, but is also excited to turn data points into fun narratives.
- Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, Reddit moderators, Reddit users and journalists.
- Knowledgeable about Reddit’s communities and user behaviors.
- A sense of humor and a love of internet culture would be ideal.
