Responsibilities
  • Lead a security culture, including crisis response, safety, and crowd-management planning, while supporting guests and team members.
  • Implement daily and weekly Assets Protection workload priorities to support business priorities and deliver goals.
  • Respond to external and internal theft incidents and prevent future theft.
  • Implement strategic resolutions for external theft and fraud and apprehend individuals attempting to cause a loss in accordance with policy and leadership guidance.
  • Partner with, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
  • Lead a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
  • Deliver guest-experience commitments and create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure team members understand, are trained in, and consistently deliver guest-experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team members, provide feedback, hold them accountable, and recognize effective guest-experience behaviors.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics, identify opportunities, take action to improve results, align the team on behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, and elevate the guest experience.
  • Support total-store sales and profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available, and welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
  • Influence and validate physical-security and safety processes, participate in store responses and emergency crises, and create security plans for in-store events.
  • Support the direct leader in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical-security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support the direct leader in talent planning and accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
  • Identify shortage risks in key areas and support leaders in developing tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Work a schedule aligned with guest and business needs, including early-morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Develop team schedules and adjust them based on security and theft trends with leader validation.
  • Own the prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including merchandise-protection budgeting, and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed by the Assets Protection leader or direct leader.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise-protection best practices and audit execution with key partners.
  • Implement and follow up on operational changes directed by the direct leader.
  • Support the direct leader in educating and supporting store teams on operational shortage priorities.
  • Order merchandise-protection devices as needed and manage the allocated budget in accordance with merchandise-protection best practices.
  • Communicate Assets Protection priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
  • Build relationships of trust and accountability with the leader and Store Director.
  • Maintain relationships inside and outside Target, including district and store leaders and law enforcement.
  • Collaborate with retail-organization partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security for guests and team members.
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team at the direction of the direct leader.
  • Support team onboarding and learning and close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experience.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct and compliance, lead the team accordingly, and hold others accountable.
  • Hold team members accountable to expectations set by the direct leader.
  • Maintain all required training.
  • Serve as first responder for in-store safety incidents, including security and weather incidents, by executing Target procedures and best practices.
  • Lead and demonstrate best-practice execution through team onboarding, learning, development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches and creating equitable experiences.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture by modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Execute safety-program management routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target's interests.
  • Model physical-security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise-protection strategies across the total store, including storage and application according to best practices.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.

  • Previous retail and/or loss-prevention experience is preferred.
