Requirements
  • Five or more years of experience and/or education in electrical-related work is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability is required.
  • Ability to oversee small projects.
  • Ability to assist the Shop Foreman with quality-control tasks.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision within broad procedural and goal-oriented guidelines.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot electrical circuits and boards.
  • Ability to differentiate color codes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and mark up electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in electrical theory and shop standards.
  • Proficiency with basic and advanced hand and power tools, including pliers, hacksaws, wire strippers, multimeters, drills, and grinders.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed and travel occasionally to customer sites, including overnight stays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform walking, reaching, crawling, kneeling, and hand-intensive work.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Completion of a thorough background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, with participation in random, post-accident, and reasonable-suspicion testing.
Responsibilities
  • Exercise safe electrical practices and assist personnel in identifying workplace hazards.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Identify revisions needed for as-built drawings, record project notes for process improvement, and report revisions to the Foreman or Project Manager.
  • Identify and implement process-efficiency improvements with the Panel Shop Foreman.
  • Assist the Panel Shop Foreman with quality-control tasks.
  • Assist Project Managers and the Panel Shop Foreman with customer communications as needed.
  • Ensure project documents are accurate and complete.
  • Assist with on-site installations as needed.
  • Train and mentor Panel Shop Technicians.
  • Oversee and serve as a resource to Panel Shop Technicians for panel-building duties, and perform panel-building work as needed.
  • Provide oversight for control-panel wiring and assembly, perform control-wiring duties as needed, and oversee testing of finished panels.
  • Provide design-process insight to Engineers as requested.
  • Oversee and serve as a resource to Panel Shop Technicians for electronics and soldering duties, and perform those duties as needed.
  • Ensure technicians follow electrical codes and safe wiring practices.
  • Lead the installation of energized systems.
  • Oversee functional testing of completed systems.
  • Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting.
