Requirements
  • Possess valid First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification or higher.
  • Have experience in a leadership position managing staff and participants in high ropes and teambuilding programming.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Work approximately 20–24 hours per week, with up to 40 hours possible through the summer.
  • Work holidays and weekends as required.
  • Maintain relevant skills through active participation in staff training and personal or professional development opportunities.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and successfully complete a motor vehicle records check.
  • Successfully complete the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
Responsibilities
  • Act as site manager for programs at Stone Valley Recreation Area.
  • Meet with the facilitator team to review each day’s programs and assign roles and tasks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for group leaders.
  • Supervise facilitators to ensure recommended program practices, safety protocols, and participant monitoring are followed.
  • Conduct post-activity processing and reflection with participants.
  • Oversee course and program shutdown and cleanup.
  • Complete all pre- and post-program paperwork.
  • Supervise and provide feedback to group program staff during scheduled programs.
  • Lead Facilitation Workshops, Facilitation 101, Belay Training, and High Ropes Training.
  • Prepare training and meeting agendas and lesson plans.
  • Assess staff competency in various program areas, provide feedback, and administer written tests.
  • Facilitate staff meeting activities to promote team bonding and cohesion.
  • Contact group leaders regarding inquiries about program offerings.
  • Manage program bookings and agreements.
  • Monitor and complete program documentation within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Administer and review post-program feedback surveys with group leaders.
  • Oversee pre-program inspections and activity setup.
  • Use and inspect program equipment appropriately.
  • Perform participant rescues.
  • Report maintenance or safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Follow all required emergency action plans and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist student leaders or full-time staff with special tasks, projects, events, and other assigned duties.
  • Drive University vehicles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Possess Wilderness First Aid or higher.
  • Possess Level 1 or 2 Challenge Course Practitioner Certification.
