Requirements
  • Graduate from or complete a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry or certification, or currently hold the required registry or certification.
  • Level I: Obtain ARRT certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II: Have at least two years of experience as a CT technologist.
  • Level III: Have at least four years of experience in the specialty modality sought for promotion.
  • Hold certification in one of the following: Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), or CNMT.
  • Obtain ARRT registration in Computed Tomography (CT) within 18 months of employment.
  • Hold BLS certification.
Responsibilities
  • Operate CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment to perform complex specialized tasks in accordance with radiation safety procedures.
  • Position patients for CT scans using positioning devices and protective equipment as needed.
  • Perform examinations accurately according to established protocols, policies, and patient safety standards.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, including starting IVs and injecting contrast when applicable.
  • Assist radiologists with interventional CT procedures.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in exposure sequence, and label images appropriately.
  • Film and transmit images to the Image Archival System.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in the electronic health record.
  • Dispense or order oral contrast for patients undergoing CT scans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.
  • Address the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families during CT scans.
  • Educate and train student technologists and perform other related duties incidental to the work.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration and accuracy in performing examination protocols.
  • Assist with education and training for new physicians, including interns, residents, fellows, and attending physicians.
  • When applicable, assist radiologists and PhDs in developing facility-specific protocols and CT imaging techniques.
  • Provide CT-specific technical assistance on supervisor-assigned projects, including team lead duties, research and development, protocol development, charge reconciliation, and equipment demonstrations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with cardiac CT or CT procedures.
