Requirements
  • Possess skills appropriate to a doctoral-level psychology intern in research, ethical and legal standards, individual and cultural diversity, professional values and attitudes, interpersonal communication, assessment, evidence-based intervention, and interdisciplinary consultation.
  • Be preparing to enter the final year of doctoral studies in clinical psychology at an institution accredited by the American Psychological Association.
  • Apply through the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers system.
  • Have completed required coursework and supervised practicum and be in good standing with the psychology training program.
  • Have completed practicum hours at a minimum of two different sites, totaling at least 600 direct-contact intervention hours in settings appropriate for a doctoral-level psychology intern.
  • Complete satisfactory background and reference checks.
  • Sign the employment non-compete and confidentiality agreement.
  • Maintain current and valid licensure, registration, or certification when required for the position.
  • Receive an annual influenza vaccination, or qualify for an applicable medical exemption and wear a mask during influenza season.
  • Pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Pass a tuberculosis skin test or chest X-ray.
  • Complete a satisfactory physical examination to determine the ability to perform the offered duties.
  • Use standard office equipment and a computer; communicate effectively in person or by telephone; follow verbal and written instructions accurately; perform complex mental and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and analyze complex data; coordinate multiple tasks; and walk or stand for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Provide training for staff members and external entities as part of community outreach.
  • Complete four three-month rotations, including outpatient services and psychological assessment, with inpatient services incorporated throughout the year.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy during outpatient and inpatient rotations, with opportunities to facilitate family therapy.
  • Administer psychological assessments in inpatient and outpatient settings during the psychological assessment rotation.
  • Conduct clinical interviews and gather background information.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests.
  • Develop psychological assessment report-writing skills and share results with the treatment team and provide feedback to patients.
  • Provide group therapy, short-term individual therapy, family therapy, crisis intervention, self-harm intervention plans, harm-to-others intervention plans, domestic violence assessments and safety planning, behavior planning, addictive disorders assessments, and full-battery psychological assessments.
