Requirements
  • Must have coursework in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.
  • Must be at the senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements, with the ability to accomplish 90% of the work independently.
  • Must be majoring in Marine Biology, Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry at the sophomore level or higher.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Only United States citizens may qualify.
  • Must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at the time of hire.
  • Must pass the background check, including a criminal record check, to satisfy the clearance condition.
Responsibilities
  • Mobilize and prepare equipment for upcoming deployments of the Remedy and Recontamination Assessment array.
  • Improve the Remedy and Recontamination Assessment array to allow groundwater discharge from the bottom of the unit.
  • Assist in running bench-scale experiments to test sorbents and bioaccumulation following standard protocols.
  • Assist in processing samples and data collected for the Remedy and Recontamination Assessment deployment.
  • Perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel and appropriate statistical software.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities, including washing glassware, calibrating and maintaining water quality meters and seawater systems, and maintaining test organisms and cultures.
  • Conduct relevant literature searches pertaining to the studies and participate in report preparation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Coursework in marine biology, statistics, chemistry, environmental science, electrical engineering, and/or computer engineering.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and common statistical software.
  • Interest or experience in designing environmental sampling equipment.
  • Students are available to work 20 hours per week preferred.
