As Atlassian customers move to cloud, rewind closes a backup gap in two of Jira's most-used apps.

As Atlassian customers move to cloud, rewind closes a backup gap in two of Jira's most-used apps. Rewind adds backup and recovery for Xray and ScriptRunner, data that falls outside Atlassian's native backup that regulated teams rely on as audit evidence. Rewind, the SaaS resilience platform, today added backup and recovery for Xray and ScriptRunner to Rewind Backups for Jira. The two apps are among the most widely installed in the Atlassian Marketplace. The announcement comes at Atlassian Team '26 Europe, as enterprises accelerate migrations ahead of Atlassian's March 2029 Data Center end of life. AiThority is continuing to invest in coverage for third-party apps, with backups for Tempo planned later this year." - Conrad Bach, CRO at Rewind Atlassian says 99% of its customers are in the cloud or on a path to the cloud, including 75% of enterprise and regulated customers. The apps that those teams built their processes on move with them. In Xray, the risk is broken traceability. Tests, preconditions, test plans, and test sets reference one another across years of release cycles. A bulk edit, a faulty script, or an accidental deletion can sever those links, and until now, there has been no automated way to rebuild them. In financial services, medical devices, and other regulated sectors, those records often serve as evidence for auditors. In ScriptRunner, the risk is silent failure. When a scheduled job or script listener is deleted or overwritten, Jira raises no error. The automation simply stops, and without version history, admins have no record of what changed or when. Oct 7, 2026 Prev Next 1 of 43,268 With today's release, Rewind: Backs up Xray test data and ScriptRunner scripts, jobs, and listeners daily, alongside the rest of the Jira instance. Restores a single test or script, or rolls back a full test suite or ScriptRunner configuration to a known point in time. Rebuilds data in dependency order, in place, so links between tests, plans, and executions survive the restore. "A test suite or a set of ScriptRunner scripts takes years to build. It carries the institutional memory behind it, the logic, and the judgment calls a team made along the way. Getting a copy back was never the hard part. Restoring the relationships and the logic and putting that data back in place is the real challenge that Rewind solves," said James Ciesielski, Co-Founder and CPTO at Rewind. "We have heard this directly from enterprise teams running Xray and ScriptRunner. This is data their operations depend on, and it deserves the same protection as the rest of their Jira estate. That's the safety net Rewind is built to be, the SaaS resilience platform behind every tool a team runs on. We're continuing to invest in coverage for third-party apps, with backups for Tempo planned later this year," said Conrad Bach, CRO at Rewind. Availability Backup and recovery for Xray and ScriptRunner are available now in the Advanced and Enterprise plans of Rewind Backups for Jira. Rewind is demonstrating the release at booth #201 at Team '26 Europe, RAI Amsterdam, Oct. 6-8. More at rewind.com [To share your insights with AiThority, please write to [email protected]]

Rewind CEO eyes acquisitions after H.I.G. Growth Partners takes majority stake in data backup firm

Ottawa-based data backup firm Rewind has secured majority ownership from private equity firm H.I.G. Growth Partners, announced in July. CEO Mike Potter said he and CTO James Ciesielski remain the largest shareholders after H.I.G., with previous investors Inovia Capital and Insight Partners retaining partial stakes. Founded in 2015, Rewind initially offered data backup for Shopify before expanding to platforms like GitHub, Trello, and QuickBooks. The company has raised more than $100 million CAD and serves 25,000 customers. Potter said developer products now represent Rewind's fastest-growing segment, driven by AI-era demand and Atlassian's cloud migration. The company aims to "back up the entire cloud and restore it in seconds," with plans to potentially pursue acquisitions and expand beyond backup into SaaS resiliency services.

Rewind Recognized as a Major Leader in SaaS Data Protection as Organizations Prioritize Resilience Against Cloud Data Loss

Rewind recognized as a Major Leader in SaaS Data Protection as organizations prioritize resilience against cloud data loss. Rewind has been on a mission to help businesses protect their SaaS and cloud data. * As organizations rely on an expanding array of SaaS applications to run critical business operations, a growing number are confronting an uncomfortable reality: moving data to the cloud does not mean it is automatically protected * Accidental deletions, misconfigurations, malicious activity, and platform outages continue to expose gaps in how SaaS data is safeguarded, often resulting in operational disruption, compliance violations, and lost revenue Rewind Software Inc., a SaaS backup and recovery platform used by more than 25,000 organizations worldwide, announced it has been named a Major Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide SaaS Data Protection 2025-2026 Vendor Assessment."There is a dangerous assumption that if data lives in the cloud, it is automatically backed up and easily recoverable. That assumption is wrong," said Mike Potter, CEO and co-founder, Rewind. "When a Jira project disappears, a GitHub repository is overwritten, or a Shopify product catalog is corrupted, businesses quickly learn how exposed their SaaS environments really are. Rewind was built to give organizations true resilience across the SaaS tools they depend on every day." Why SaaS resilience must become a business priority As SaaS adoption accelerates, many organizations are discovering that responsibility for data protection does not fully sit with application providers. Most SaaS platforms operate under a shared responsibility model, where vendors ensure application availability while customers remain responsible for safeguarding their own data. This reality is often misunderstood until data loss occurs. Human error continues to be one of the most common causes of SaaS data incidents, while ransomware groups and malicious actors are increasingly targeting cloud-based platforms. In many cases, these platforms' native recovery features provide only short retention periods and limited restore capabilities, leaving organizations exposed to data loss risks that can have cascading effects across operations, compliance, and business continuity. As organizations rely on SaaS platforms as systems of record for critical data, analysts and security leaders are emphasizing data protection and recoverability as essential components of operational resilience, rather than optional safeguards. How Rewind delivers SaaS resilience Rewind focuses on protecting SaaS platforms that are frequently underserved by traditional backup vendors, including GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Miro, Okta, and Shopify. The platform provides granular, item-level backups and recovery, allowing organizations to restore individual issues, repositories, workflows, or product records without overwriting entire environments. This level of precision enables faster recovery and minimizes downtime during incidents, helping teams meet recovery time and recovery point objectives (RTOs and RPOs) while maintaining control over how and what data is restored. For enterprises operating in regulated environments, security and governance are key considerations. Rewind supports compliance frameworks including SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA, with backups encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256 encryption. The platform also offers Role-Based Access Control, Single Sign-On integration, detailed audit logging, and data residency options across six regions to support enterprise governance, audit readiness, and data sovereignty requirements. Built to evolve with SaaS ecosystems As organizations expand their SaaS stacks, coverage gaps can emerge quickly. Rewind takes a customer-led approach to coverage, using its proprietary Platform Engine to deliver new SaaS integrations in weeks based on direct customer demand. This approach allows data protection to keep pace with how organizations adopt and rely on new SaaS tools. Looking ahead "As SaaS tools become more deeply embedded in day-to-day operations, the risks associated with data loss continue to rise," said Potter. "Our focus heading into 2026 is simple: make Rewind the most resilient, most comprehensive SaaS backup platform available. This recognition from IDC confirms we're on the right path but more importantly, it reflects the trust our customers place in us every day."
