  • A strong safety focus and attention to detail are required.
  • Excellent plan reading skills are required.
  • A demonstrated math and technical aptitude are required.
  • The ability to work extended or nontraditional hours as needed is required.
  • State Department of Transportation certifications, International Code Council certifications, and/or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies certifications are required or accepted.
  • At least 3 years of construction materials testing experience are required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • The ability to lift 75 or more pounds is required.
  • American Concrete Institute Concrete Field-Testing Certification is required.
  • The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions is required.
  • The ability to reach with the hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl is required.
  • The ability to work on uneven terrain, at varying heights, in confined spaces, or in supported trenches is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
  • Perform field concrete testing, including slump, air content, and temperature testing.
  • Perform field density tests of soils.
  • Prepare daily reports and electronic documentation of field activities.
  • Work with project managers and senior technicians or staff to ensure specifications are followed.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior staff as needed.
