Requirements
- You have either formally or informally served as a tech lead, mentor, or coach for a team of software engineers working on a software-as-a-service platform for 2+ years.
- You have led technical initiatives in an environment where performance, reliability, and accuracy are paramount and where feature development and roadmaps are measured in months and quarters.
- You have significant full-stack programming experience, including experience with Agile methodologies, software-as-a-service software architecture, and modern programming languages.
- You have a product-oriented mindset and care deeply about customers and the customer experience.
- You have fluent English at a US/UK level, or French at B2 level or equivalent.
- You have enthusiasm for the working environment described by the company.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact for technical topics from the squad and redirect topics to another squad member when appropriate.
- Coach the other developers in the squad, including conducting performance reviews and career-path assessments.
- Continue coding; management is expected to take approximately 20% of the role's time.
- Participate in monthly meetings with the CTO and Engineering Director to celebrate successes and discuss technical or organizational challenges.
- Learn the company, platform, teams, culture, research and development working methods, and team processes during onboarding.
- Support the product squad in meeting innovation goals while maintaining and improving product features and the codebase within its scope.
- Follow and coach the squad's software engineers, identify their strengths and development areas, and proactively solve challenges they face.
- Lead performance-review and career-path-assessment calibration.
- Work with the CPTO and Engineering Director to maintain squad engagement.
- Share best practices within the team and create courses on the company platform.
- Suggest and implement process improvements within the squad, and share and help implement improvements across squads.
- Maintain team spirit, including by organizing synchronous or asynchronous team-building activities.
- Ensure the team ships valuable features on time and to the required quality.
- Work with the product manager to define product vision and technical direction for the relevant platform area.
- Join cross-team initiatives, such as organizing hackathons.
- Push for technical innovation within and beyond the squad.
- Identify team members' next career steps and define action plans to help them achieve those steps.
