  • A bachelor's degree in education and/or a field related to biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, or writing/language arts.
  • Ability to design and implement appropriate curriculum given broad goals.
  • Knowledge of innovative and flexible teaching methods.
  • Ability to establish strong rapport with economically and culturally disadvantaged youth.
  • Interpersonal skills, sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged students, and commitment to the goals of the Upward Bound Programs.
  • Successful completion of a background review as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Co-develop, plan, and teach all assigned classes and an interdisciplinary project-based course.
  • Provide learner feedback.
  • Attend to student learning needs in collaboration with TRIO Mentors.
  • Attend lunch and supervise students.
  • Document student progress and report concerns.
  • Attend to student concerns and behavioral support and complete timely reporting.
  • Educate students on program and campus policy.
  • Attend and contribute to training, staff meetings, department meetings, opening and closing ceremonies, evaluation sessions, and regular supervisory meetings.
  • Complete end-of-summer evaluations for students in courses by the stated deadlines and submit them to the supervisor.
  • Perform other assigned programmatic duties.

  • Experience using Google apps for learning management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers and tutors within and across academic disciplines.
  • Participation as a student in a TRIO program.
