  • Review accounting for securities and derivatives, including accrued interest, premiums and discounts, foreign-currency valuation under IAS 21, realised and unrealised results, valuation adjustments, modifications and derecognition.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual IFRS closing activities, including posting controls, plausibility reviews, correction cycles and delivery of complete accounting outputs within agreed close timetables.
  • Perform and evidence subledger-to-general-ledger, GL1/GL2, NAV-to-IFRS and HGB-to-IFRS reconciliations, investigate material differences and ensure transparent correction and escalation.
  • Oversee IFRS 13 fair-value hierarchy classifications for Levels 1, 2 and 3 and support IFRS 7 disclosures, including completeness checks, valuation-input review, reclassifications and supporting reporting data.
  • Coordinate critical data and interface dependencies across fund-accounting systems, general ledgers, reporting platforms and client interfaces, including holdings, transactions, master data, valuations and ECL inputs.
  • Ensure IFRS accounting and reporting is complete, technically sound, reconciled and delivered within agreed daily and period-end timetables.
  • Ensure SPPI assessments, IFRS 9 classifications, ECL, amortisation, derivatives accounting and IFRS 13 levelling are subject to effective specialist review.
  • Keep accounting and reporting data aligned across subledgers, general ledgers and downstream interfaces, with breaks identified and corrected transparently.
  • Provide clients, auditors and internal stakeholders clear, reliable and timely explanations of accounting treatments, exceptions and required decisions.

BNY embeds AI everywhere but won't say how much it spends of its $4B tech budget

BNY, which says it is embedding artificial intelligence (AI) across its business, declined to say how much it spends on the technology. Chief executive officer Robin Vince told analysts on its third-quarter earnings call that the bank is not breaking out the figure, and that doing so could be "counterproductive." Vince said AI is generating returns. About $4 billion of BNY's $13 billion annual expense base goes to technology. The bank now has "400-plus" AI solutions in production, up from 117 a year ago. BNY reported revenue of $5.7 billion, up 12%, and net income of $1.7 billion, up 16%. Earnings per share were $2.34, against a consensus estimate of $2.27. It raised its 2026 revenue growth outlook to 12%-13%.
