Tieto Oyj reports $119M cost savings amid 3% revenue decline and 800 job cuts

Tieto Oyj reported Q1 2026 results showing a 3% revenue decline driven by legacy contract runoffs in Banktech and Caretech, though adjusted EBITA margin improved over 4 percentage points year-over-year to 14.7%. The Finnish IT services company's order backlog grew 8% year-over-year, whilst operating cash flow rose 9% on a comparable basis. The company achieved €105 million in run rate savings from its cost optimisation programme, targeting €130 million by year-end 2026. However, weak demand in Tech Consulting and geopolitical uncertainties impacted performance, prompting Tieto to announce an additional 500 employee reduction. Banktech profitability improved to 17.3% with underlying growth around 3%, whilst Caretech achieved a 26% margin. Leverage improved to 1.3x following the completion of the Bekk Consulting divestment, which contributed €147 million to free cash flow.
