Manulife partners with iCare HMO.

Manulife partners with iCare HMO. October 29, 2026 | 7:09 pm THE MANUFACTURERS Life Insurance Co. (Philippines) Inc. (Manulife Philippines) has partnered with Insular Health Care, Inc. (iCare HMO) to develop more integrated health and financial protection solutions for employees. Under the partnership, select iCare HMO group customers will gain access to Manulife's group life insurance benefit alongside employees' existing healthcare benefits as an annually renewable coverage. This would allow corporate clients to build employee benefits packages that address both medical needs and financial protection. Manulife and iCare HMO are also co-developing integrated employee benefits solutions that bring their products into complementary offerings, including embedding group life insurance into iCare HMO's prepaid cards starting in November. Both organizations will also be able to reach customers through each other's authorized channels and corporate relationships through a two-way distribution framework. In the longer term, the two companies will also explore coordinated group life and medical benefits, as well as broader employee benefits propositions for businesses in the Philippines. This comes as Manulife's Asia Care Survey showed that consumers across the region are placing greater emphasis on holistic well-being, with Filipinos becoming more proactive about their health and prioritizing preventive care and healthier lifestyles. "Filipinos are increasingly looking for practical ways to protect their health while strengthening their financial resilience," Manulife Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rahul Hora said. "Through this partnership, we can complement iCare HMO's healthcare solutions with life insurance protection for group clients, while exploring new ways to make relevant solutions more accessible. This supports our commitment to help more Filipinos live better for longer." "Employers and individuals benefit when healthcare and financial protection work together," said Geronimo V. Francisco, president and CEO of iCare HMO. "Our partnership with Manulife allows us to expand the range of protection options available to our group clients and explore convenient new channels for broader protection. We look forward to developing solutions that respond to the evolving needs of Filipino employees and families." Manulife Philippines' premium income stood at P14.39 billion in 2025, latest Insurance Commission data showed, while its net income was at P1.966 billion. For its part, iCare HMO booked a net profit of P343.943 million last year. Benefits and claims were at P6.2 billion, while membership fees were at P8.45 billion. Insular Assurance Co., Ltd. (InLife) in January completed the sale of its shares in iCare HMO to Singaporean company Value-Based Healthcare PF Pte. Ltd. iCare HMO was founded in 1991 as a wholly owned subsidiary of InLife. In 2023, InLife entered into a strategic partnership with Value-Based Healthcare that led to the latter's acquisition of majority ownership of the HMO. - Aaron Michael C. New Manulife and MIT AgeLab "Longevity Preparedness Index" Reveals what it takes to age well in Canada.

New Manulife and MIT AgeLab "Longevity Preparedness Index" Reveals what it takes to age well in Canada. Posted: October 27, 2026 * First-of-its-kind research finds Canadians score 60 out of 100 on longevity preparedness, with care, housing and health emerging as key gaps * Manulife brings its Longevity Symposium series to Canada for the first time, convening leaders across health, finance and aging to advance longevity preparedness TORONTO, ON and VANCOUVER, B.C. - Canadians are living longer[[i]], but many are not fully prepared for the realities that accompany longer lives, according to the inaugural Longevity Preparedness Index (LPI) for Canada from Manulife and the MIT AgeLab. The innovative new research[[ii]] found Canadians are only modestly prepared for longer lives, scoring just 60 out of 100 on the LPI. The findings show that aging well depends on more than finances alone, with health, housing, care, social connection and community all playing critical roles. "Canadians are entering a new era of longevity, and the findings reinforce what we've long believed at Manulife: living longer, healthier lives requires a holistic approach," said Patrick Graham, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Canada. "Our health, sense of community, financial security, and plans for care all play a role in how well we age. At Manulife, we're committed to helping people navigate those important decisions to feel more prepared for whatever comes next." The results were shared today at Beyond Age, Manulife's Longevity Symposium, in Vancouver, the first Canadian event in Manulife's international longevity symposium series. Additional events will take place in Montreal and Toronto next month. Where Canadians Are Most and Least Prepared The Longevity Preparedness Index measures preparedness across eight dimensions, each evaluated on a scale of 0 to 100, along with an overall score that represents the average of the domain scores. * Community (75) - Access to services, healthcare, recreation and transportation * Social connection (69) - Relationships with family, friends and community * Finance (66) - Financial security and confidence * Daily activities (60) - Purposeful and meaningful engagement * Life transitions (60) - Ability to adapt to change * Health (55) - Physical, mental and cognitive wellbeing * Home (53) - Safe, accessible housing * Care (40) - Planning for long-term care needs and caregiving responsibilities Canadians scored highest in community and social connection, demonstrating the strength of the social and community infrastructure that supports wellbeing. However, care, home and health emerged as the areas requiring the greatest attention. "We have never had this many people living this long within the social context we have today. Longevity is still a relatively new phenomenon," said Dr. Joseph F. Coughlin, Founder and Director of MIT AgeLab. "Canadians are not unprepared because they are unwilling to plan. We are all learning how to navigate a future that previous generations never experienced. What makes the Longevity Preparedness Index so important is that it provides a roadmap. For the first time, Canadians can see the key dimensions that contribute to living 100 good years, from health and finances to caregiving, housing, social connection and purpose." Health and Finances Top Canadians' Priorities While the preparedness domains measure how ready Canadians are across key dimensions of longevity, Canadians were also asked to identify the aspects of life they consider most important today. The results reveal that what people prioritize and how prepared they are do not always align. Nearly two-thirds of Canadians identify health (67 per cent) and finances (66 per cent) among their most important priorities today. Notably, despite being Canadians' top priority, health received a preparedness score of just 55, highlighting a gap between recognizing the importance of health and taking steps to support long-term wellbeing. By contrast, finance received a preparedness score of 66. Care Is Canada's Biggest Preparedness Gap Among the domains measured, care received the lowest score at just 40 out of 100, making it the country's most significant preparedness gap. While only 11 per cent of Canadians identify future care needs and caregiving as a top priority today, more than twice as many (26 per cent) believe it will be important to their wellbeing later in life. The findings suggest Canadians recognize the importance of planning for care, but many are delaying conversations and planning until the need becomes more immediate. Home (53) and health (55) also ranked among the lowest-scoring preparedness domains, highlighting opportunities for people to better prepare for the housing, accessibility and wellbeing considerations that support independence as they age. Financial Advice Tied to Stronger Longevity Preparedness The research found people working with a financial professional scored 63 on the Longevity Preparedness Index, compared with 57 among those who have never worked with one. The advantage extended across all eight dimensions measured, including care, health, social connection, daily activities, and life transitions. "One of the most compelling findings is that Canadians who work with a financial professional report higher levels of preparedness across every aspect of life, not just finances," said Paul Lorentz, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Wealth & Asset Management. "Canadians who work with a financial professional score higher across all eight domains of preparedness, and scores rise even further when advisors discuss longevity-related topics. Preparing for a longer life requires connecting the dots across financial, health and personal considerations, and advisors can play an important role in helping clients navigate that journey." Among people whose advisor discusses longevity-related topics, preparedness rose even further to 66, compared with 61 among those whose advisor does not have these conversations. Average preparedness scores were also higher among Canadians who were older, lived in urban areas, had higher levels of income and education, were retired, married or partnered, and had children. Manulife is Empowering Customer Health, Wealth & Longevity Globally The Longevity Preparedness Index was originally created by the MIT AgeLab and John Hancock in 2025. Updated U.S. findings released today show Americans also scored 60 out of 100 on the index, providing a broader view of longevity preparedness across North America. The LPI supports the work of the Manulife Longevity Institute, a global research, thought leadership, innovation, advocacy, and community investment platform that aims to advance action on helping people live longer, healthier, more financially secure lives. As a global life insurer, asset manager and retirement plan provider, Manulife is committed to helping Canadians navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with longer lives by supporting physical wellbeing and financial security. Industry moves: Erin McKee starts cross-border insurance advisory.

Industry moves: Erin McKee starts cross-border insurance advisory. Plus, Wellington-Altus scores advisory team and appointments at Manulife Wealth, Aviva Investors and more October 26, 2026 Erin McKee has started DualSure Advisory after leaving Manulife Wealth, where she was head of insurance partnership and programs for North America, in June. McKee has more than 20 years of industry experience, with a focus since 2016 on U.S.-Canada cross-border insurance. Before joining Manulife in mid-2025, she was president of U.S.-based Ventum Insurance Services Corp. She also spent two years as a product manager in the insurance services division of TD Wealth's national sales office, where she ran a large-scale training program for advisors across Canada, and previously ran an insurance consultancy. At TD, "folks kept bringing me cross-border insurance questions because I was licensed in the States and I had experience in the States, and that never stopped," she said in an interview. "Since then, I get a lot of the questions of, 'Hey, a client's got a U.S. policy and he moved to Canada. What do I do with this?'" Cross-border wealth management is a growing focus of the industry, but McKee sees a need for cross-border insurance expertise. A dual citizen who's licensed in Ontario, Quebec and Massachusetts so far, McKee will serve advisors with high-net-worth clients and families who have cross-border assets. "If you look at the table of advisors who are providing advice to a high-net-worth client on both jurisdictions, the insurance advisor at the table is usually only licensed in one jurisdiction or the other, and not both," she said. Other recent notable moves across the financial industry include: * Christian Mattenley has joined Wellington-Altus Private Wealth as a senior wealth advisor and senior portfolio manager. He left Scotia Wealth Management after nearly 10 years. Mattenley has more than 25 years of industry experience, including vice-president (VP) level roles at AGF Investments Inc. and Dynamic Funds and has been a member of the associate faculty at Royal Roads University's School of Business. He brings a team of four with him, including wealth advisor and portfolio manager Patrick Smith. * Ken Lofranco has been named head of succession planning at Manulife Wealth. Lofranco was a regional director with Manulife Securities for more than two decades before leaving for a role as VP, national advisor growth, at Investment Planning Counsel in 2022. * Pat Chiefalo has joined Aviva Investors as head of product development and management in the Americas with Aviva Investors, a newly created role. He has more than 25 years of experience across product strategy and development, and was previously head of product with Invesco Canada. He's also has served in senior roles at BlackRock, including as managing director and head of iShares Canada, National Bank Financial and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. * Sara Mahaffy has been named head of Canadian equity strategy, in addition to her ongoing role as managing director, head of global sustainability strategy research at RBC Capital Markets. She joined RBC nine years ago from Credit Suisse, where she served as VP, equity research, for seven years. She's based in New York. * Gareth Gibbins has been named head of pensions and financial security at the National Institute on Ageing, which he joined as an associate fellow in mid-2025. He previously was with OMERS for more than 17 years, starting as corporate counsel in pensions and later serving in a number of VP-level roles focused on pension policy, governance and legal matters. * Olivia Steedman has been appointed executive managing director overseeing the Asia-Pacific region for Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, in addition to her current role leading Teachers' Venture Growth.
