Requirements
  • A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school is required; foreign medical graduates must have Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification.
  • Completion of accredited postgraduate medical training, including internship and residency, in Internal Medicine is required.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine is required.
  • A current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands is required.
  • A current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration certificate is required.
  • At least one year of experience within the last three years as a Family Practice Provider is required.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications are required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in word processing, data entry, and electronic medical records are required.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver preventive, acute, and chronic care for assigned patients and support other providers’ patients during high-volume periods or absences.
  • Conduct general medical examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions across all organ systems.
  • Promote preventive health and maintenance care through physical examinations, immunizations, and patient education on positive health behaviors.
  • Document outpatient and inpatient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record system in accordance with Army regulations and facility policies.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with complex conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, arthritis, and cancer.
  • Prescribe medications according to protocols, educate patients on proper use and side effects, and maintain accurate records.
  • Order, evaluate, and interpret radiology and laboratory tests and refer patients to specialty clinics as appropriate.
  • Provide prescription renewals and telephonic consultative services.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and in-service training.
