Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical-related curriculum applicable to the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the specific technical discipline, or 15 years of broad engineering experience across several technical disciplines with a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience credit for related advanced degrees is limited to 2 years for a master's degree and 4 years for a PhD in applicable fields.
  • The technical skills and abilities appropriate for this grade must be demonstrated within the applicable discipline.
  • Knowledge of Materials and Processes Engineering, including selecting materials for pressurized and unpressurized environments.
  • Knowledge of materials containing chemical substances identified in international and national environmental regulations, including REACH, TSCA, and EPA requirements.
  • Experience revising materials and processes specifications.
  • Legal qualification to work on an ITAR project.
  • Ability to work on-site full time.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of aircraft products and services.
  • Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Serve as a recognized authority within the field and provide extensive consultation to associates and others.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex issues by developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • Balance technical product considerations with cost and schedule when solving problems.
  • Determine technical objectives independently and make authoritative decisions and recommendations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in the specialty and related aircraft fields to recommend innovations that improve product quality and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work on engineering projects involving critical problems requiring major technological advances and extensive related development.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in engineering or a related curriculum.
  • Materials and Processes Engineering experience generating and communicating technical requirements to external suppliers and internal multidisciplinary engineering groups, including Powerplant, Environmental Control, Structures, Electrical, and Mechanical.
  • Experience with SmarTeam and CATIA for reviewing proposed designs and workflows.
  • Experience producing EAR-approved test plans and results reports.
  • Successful manufacturing liaison material review board integration experience.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement projects.
