About the job

Requirements
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with meaningful full-stack exposure across both front-end and back-end development.
  • Is comfortable in more than one programming language and picks up new ones quickly; knows at least two languages well, such as Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
  • Has hands-on experience with CI/CD systems, build tooling, and developer workflow automation.
  • Has experience with large-scale build systems such as Bazel or a very similar system used at large engineering organizations.
  • Is comfortable with cloud-native environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerized workflows such as Kubernetes.
  • Is comfortable working across hybrid architectures that mix a monolith with microservices, and with high-volume, complex release processes.
  • Has empathy and communication skills for acting as a spokesperson and trusted partner to engineers and business-unit leaders.
  • Is motivated by improving how other engineers work rather than shipping product features, and enjoys continuously learning across a broad and evolving technology stack.
  • Embodies the EAGER values: ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by the MOVE principles: move fast and learn faster, obsess about creating customer value, value impact over activity, and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the embedded Developer Experience partner and spokesperson for the Docs business unit by implementing the central platform team's work in the business unit's context, resolving issues autonomously where possible, and aligning with the central team where needed.
  • Bridge engineers and business-unit leads by translating day-to-day developer friction and leadership priorities into a clear, prioritized Developer Experience roadmap.
  • Build full-stack internal tooling and self-service platforms, including front-end interfaces and back-end services, tailored to the Docs team's workflows.
  • Improve the release process and own and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling so shipping code is safe, fast, and reliable at a high release cadence.
  • Streamline local development across a hybrid monolith-and-microservices codebase through fast local environments, quick feedback, and reliable, low-flake test suites.
  • Work hands-on with build systems such as Bazel or equivalents and containerized, cloud-native infrastructure such as Kubernetes to make builds and pipelines faster and more reliable.
  • Create and maintain codebase-specific golden paths, templates, and documentation that make the recommended way to build easier.
  • Define and track org-wide developer-productivity metrics and Docs-specific metrics, and use data to validate the impact of shipped changes.

Superhuman opens new Seattle office, joining wave of AI companies expanding in the region.

Superhuman opens new Seattle office, joining wave of AI companies expanding in the region. by Todd Bishop on Oct 6, 2026 at 10:37 am Superhuman, the San Francisco company formerly known as Grammarly, opened a 13,501-square-foot office in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood on Tuesday, moving out of a coworking space and giving itself room to hire. The office, at 1000 Dexter Ave. N., is opening with 50 workstations and can hold up to 80, a Superhuman representative told GeekWire via email. Superhuman plans to keep hiring in Seattle for data engineering, data governance and data science roles. Its careers page lists 12 open positions that can be based in Seattle, including software engineering, site reliability and product management jobs. The company joins a growing list of out-of-town AI companies expanding in the region in search of technical talent, including OpenAI in Bellevue and Anthropic in Seattle. Grammarly acquired the Superhuman email app in July 2025 and renamed the whole company after it that October. Its CEO is Shishir Mehrotra, a former Microsoft and YouTube executive who co-founded the collaborative documents startup Coda. The company's suite of AI tools for work includes the Superhuman Go assistant, Mail, Docs and the Grammarly writing assistant. It has been expanding the lineup in part through acquisitions, announcing deals this year for AI detection startup GPTZero and meeting notetaker Fathom. According to the company, the Seattle office is set up for hybrid work under a program called "Ways of Working," which replaced a return-to-office mandate in January. U.S. employees choose two to five days a week in the office and get a quarterly wellness stipend ranging from $500 to as much as $2,000 depending on how often they come in, Entrepreneur reported. We've asked the company for more information, including how many people it employs in Seattle and who leads the office.

LinkedIn bought his startup for $15M — but stress put him in hospital at 27. Now his next company sold for $825M

Rahul Vohra was hospitalised at 27 from stress whilst preparing to sell his startup Rapportive to LinkedIn. The 2012 acquisition was reportedly valued at $15 million. Two years of poor diet, no exercise, and entrepreneurial pressure caused gastrointestinal reflux disease. A nurse told him his insides resembled someone decades older. During recovery, Vohra adopted transcendental meditation and overhauled his lifestyle. In 2014, he launched Superhuman, an AI email productivity suite. The company was valued at $825 million in 2021 and acquired by Grammarly in 2025. Vohra raised over $100 million for Superhuman before the sale, providing far more financial stability than his first venture. He maintains a daily meditation practice and healthier work habits.

GPTZero sold to Superhuman for at least $135M after hitting $30M in annual revenue

Edward Tian built GPTZero during his senior year winter break at Princeton, creating a tool to detect AI-generated writing. The site crashed within a week as 30,000 people rushed to use it. Less than four years later, GPTZero has over 20 million registered users and $30 million in annual recurring revenue. Superhuman, formerly known as Grammarly, acquired GPTZero in June for undisclosed terms. The deal represented at least a 10x return on the $13.5 million the company had raised. Tian, 26, and cofounder Alex Cui now lead Superhuman's authenticity team. Before GPTZero took off, Tian had accepted a fellowship with the New York Times' visual investigations team and studied under New Yorker writer John McPhee at Princeton. GPTZero's roughly 30 employees are being integrated into Superhuman's broader authenticity effort.

Sectigo further automates security certificates with orchestration gateway.

Sectigo further automates security certificates with orchestration gateway. Superhuman acquires Otter AI transcription rival Fathom. 23rd September 2026 Vendor Superhuman looks set to buy an AI notetaking tool and integrate meeting data with its expanding AI-enabled productivity platform. According to Ivan Mehta, writing for IT publication TechCrunch, the move is about expanding AI-enabled automation opportunities. "With a notetaker, Superhuman can work on surfacing meeting context in real time," Mehta wrote. "Superhuman already has an email client, a docs app, a calendar, a database solution, and a newly launched AI agent builder platform." Also, it owns popular text-editing tool Grammarly. By adding a notetaker like Fathom, Superhuman can draft emails, update data entries, schedule follow-up meetings, and have AI agents work with meeting data. Generative AI tools can speed up certain types of task, such as transcription of what's said in a meeting. "Superhuman is joining the cadre of productivity platforms launching notetakers. But rather than building one internally, it is acquiring Y Combinator-backed Fathom," Mehta wrote. US-based Y Combinator funds tech start-ups. In addition, Fathom numbers Zoom Apps Fund, Telescope Partners, BoxOne Ventures, Character Capital, and Maven Ventures among its investors. Notetaker tools add meeting data to office AI. Subsequently, Mehta said Fathom has around 400,000 active users a month, potentially adding to Superhuman's 40 million customers. Shishir Mehrotra, Superhuman's CEO, told Mehta that creating its own notetaker would have been difficult. "It becomes clear how deep the products in this category are and how much you need to build. A lot of these products make the job feel really easy. It's actually quite tricky," Mehrotra was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, July saw Superhuman launch Docs, a type of AI assistant. The "collaboration surface" is an "evolution" of older team tool Coda, it said. "New capabilities move AI beyond the chat window and into the documents teams rely on, enabling them to build with AI together and create custom tools connected to their data," an announcement said. Superhuman said that Docs can read, plan, write, track, and build inside any document. ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other AI clients can be connected. "Users describe what they need in plain language. Docs produces content, builds formatted tables, resolves comments, and pulls information across documents," it said. "AI views run on live data, with drag-and-drop interactivity and AI-powered actions. They automatically update as the underlying data changes." At the same time, Superhuman unveiled its Databases enterprise data management offering in private beta. The vendor said it supports up to a million rows per database. "Teams can centralise shared datasets, build trackers and operational systems," it said. "And connect that data directly to Docs so the same information is available across surfaces."
