Requirements
  • Accredited professional degree in landscape architecture or international equivalent
  • Terminal degree in landscape architecture (Master of Landscape Architecture) or a related field
Responsibilities
  • Teach at least 13 credits of coursework per academic year plus MLA student thesis advising.
  • Participate in department, college and university service activities and governance.
  • Academic advising for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Engage in original scholarly research and/or creative work and to disseminate this work through a suitable peer-review process.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in landscape architecture or a related field
  • An active professional license in landscape architecture
  • Professional practice experience in landscape architecture
  • Outstanding portfolio of professional work
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching at a university level
  • Urban design practice, best practices in landscape-based urbanism, urban morphology, urban landscape systems, innovation and systemic approaches to urban transformations and urban redevelopment
  • Plant-soil-climate relationships, ecological design and habitat restoration/creation, plant associations and communities, and support for biodiversity and pollinators
  • Climate conscience/performance, sustainable construction practices, material selections, site engineering techniques, green and blue infrastructure
  • Advanced traditional and digital graphic representation, mixed (analog + digital) media, experimental work with AR, VR, AI, and UAV data collection
  • Design for climate change adaptation and resilience, innovative approaches to co-creating and communicating systemic landscape transformations, and empowering underserved, marginalized or vulnerable populations or communities
  • Any other emerging landscape architecture communities of practice that will prepare graduates to innovate and improve on their impact on global and local landscape challenges
