AI data centre suppliers fall despite blowout quarters, shedding over $300B since October

Shares of AI data centre suppliers fell for a second day despite strong results. Bloom Energy said sales rose 138% last quarter and raised its full-year growth outlook to roughly 122%. Comfort Systems said its backlog nearly doubled to $17.8 billion. Since the S&P 500's October 6 record close, companies building and equipping AI data centres are down a median 23%, according to Yahoo Finance calculations. Nvidia is off 11%, while the Big Tech companies funding the build-out are down 5%. A dozen of the biggest builders and power names have lost more than $300 billion in market value. Bloom's cash flow turned negative in the quarter, and its margins lag sales growth. The next test comes Wednesday, when Microsoft, Alphabet, and Vertiv report, followed by Amazon on Thursday.

Bloom Energy extends selloff despite $4.6B guidance, but Morgan Stanley lifts target to $335

Bloom Energy shares fell 12% in morning trade on Friday, extending a post-earnings selloff, even as Morgan Stanley raised its price target to $335 from $310 and kept an "Overweight" rating. The stock fell 8.7% the previous day and is heading for a third straight weekly loss. The fuel-cell maker reported third-quarter revenue of $1.24 billion, above the $1.07 billion forecast. Morgan Stanley raised its 2027 shipment forecast to 2.1 gigawatts from 1.8, and its 2028 forecast to 3.7 from 3.1.

Bloom Energy vs Constellation: fuel cells or nuclear for AI power demand in 2026?

Bloom Energy and Constellation Energy offer two ways to bet on AI-driven power demand, and the article favours Constellation for long-term investors. Bloom makes fuel cells that power data centers on-site. Its FY 2025 revenue rose 37% to about $2 billion, with a net loss of about $88.4 million. Analysts expect 2026 revenue to jump 85% to $4.1 billion. Constellation, a nuclear power producer, posted FY 2025 revenue of about $25.5 billion and net income of about $2.3 billion. It has 20-year deals with Microsoft and Meta Platforms. Constellation trades at a forward P/E of 22.5x against Bloom's 85.4x. Bloom's history of boom-and-bust swings adds caution.
