Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are required, including the ability to function independently in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills are required to work with activity organizers and ensure compliance with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, Joint Accreditation, American Medical Association, and Harvard Medical School standards and regulations while providing quality customer service.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook, is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and Joint Accreditation policies and criteria is required.
Responsibilities
  • Advance Harvard Medical School Continuing Education priorities and goals as a strategic partner.
  • Provide operational, programmatic, and administrative leadership and guidance to the Harvard Medical School Continuing Education program.
  • Sustain the program's Joint Accreditation with Commendation.
  • Collaborate with course directors, course administrators, and departmental staff to plan and implement accredited continuing education activities.
  • Ensure MyCE accreditation management software aligns with evolving Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and Joint Accreditation standards and supports accurate tracking and reporting of activities and learners.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Accreditation, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, Harvard Medical School, and national continuing medical education standards.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and refine internal policies and processes.
  • Oversee proposal review to ensure educational design, content integrity, and regulatory alignment.
  • Manage conflict-of-interest identification and resolution.
  • Review educational materials for adherence to accreditation criteria, American Medical Association core requirements, and Harvard Medical School policies, and recommend content revisions as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate disclosure and communication when activities receive commercial support, in collaboration with Contracts and Finance.
  • Lead internal audits of continuing education activities, identify compliance risks, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Oversee annual data collection and reporting, including preparation of the Joint Accreditation PARS report.
  • Implement an annual activity file audit process.
  • Manage the comprehensive reaccreditation process, contribute to the Self-Study Report, and prepare Performance-in-Practice files.
  • Support strategic advancement of Harvard Medical School Continuing Education.
  • Cultivate a high-performing, service-oriented team culture.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to accredited program staff.
  • Ensure strong customer support for faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage key committees, including the Harvard Medical School Standing Committee on Continuing Professional Development and the Committee on Proposal Review.
  • Ensure continuing education activities reflect best practices in adult learning, educational technology, and physician professional development.
  • Represent Harvard Medical School at national forums and professional meetings hosted by relevant continuing education organizations.
  • Oversee quality improvement initiatives for continuing education programs and maintain evaluation processes to assess activity effectiveness and overall program impact.
  • Prepare reports for Office of External Education leadership.
  • Lead internal training on accreditation standards.
  • Participate in departmental and University committees that strengthen Harvard Medical School educational offerings.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Education, Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in continuing medical education or academic medicine is highly desirable.
