Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of work-related grants and contracts experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Responsibilities
  • Manage pre-award activities for an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts within a Research Administration Services unit, applying knowledge of standard operating procedures for pre-award functions and awareness of federal rules and regulations related to research grant and contract activity.
  • Assist departmental faculty and principal investigators in developing, preparing, and submitting grant and contract proposals.
  • Ensure applications meet agency and university guidelines and published timetables and deadlines, including managing the Just-In-Time process.
  • Ensure proposals are entered and routed in a timely manner for further review.
  • Confer with principal investigators and pre-award support staff at collaborating institutions to obtain necessary sub-award documents for proposals.
  • Assist principal investigators in developing budgets and budget justifications, proofing budgets for inconsistencies and ensuring accuracy.
  • Review budgets for consistency with sponsor requirements, monitor compliance with agency and university regulations regarding submission, and verify financial information, including the appropriate project overhead rate.
  • Advise principal investigators on administrative requirements for proposal submissions.
  • Advise principal investigators on budget adjustments and revisions needed to meet sponsor requirements.
  • Coordinate and review proposal elements, including biosketches and facilities and resources, for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Review proposals for consistency with sponsor guidelines on budget, format, font size, and page limits, excluding narrative content, and obtain and review sponsor guidelines.
  • Monitor and facilitate the proposal process through routing in compliance with university procedures and institutional signature requirements.
  • Obtain signatures as needed.
  • Monitor proposal status and advise principal investigators on requirements and deadlines associated with research protection protocols.
  • Work effectively with central, school, and departmental offices and divisions on research proposals.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.
