Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of manufacturing and/or other regulated-environment experience, or an Associate’s Degree plus 2 years of such experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree plus 6 months of such experience, or a Master’s Degree.
  • Ability to work assigned 12-hour shifts, including some holidays, inclement weather, and requested overtime.
  • Ability to follow current good manufacturing practice procedures and policies, safety requirements, standard operating procedures, manufacturing procedures, job hazard analyses, and Code of Federal Regulations requirements.
  • Ability to perform aseptic techniques and proper gowning.
  • Ability to perform upstream cell-culture manufacturing operations, including seed train, single-use bioreactors, perfusion, RTF, stainless-steel bioreactors, depth filtration, and centrifugation.
  • Ability to perform equipment setup, cleaning, sanitization, monitoring, critical process tasks, in-process sampling, analytical equipment operation, electronic batch record completion, and process documentation.
  • Ability to recognize and elevate problems during daily operations and support corrective and preventive actions.
Responsibilities
  • Support facility expansion, operational readiness, and startup activities.
  • Execute manufacturing readiness tasks, including equipment preparation, procedure execution, and process walkthroughs.
  • Participate in commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.
  • Provide operational feedback during startup to support safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing.
  • Support readiness planning through training, procedures, workflows, and operational practices required for startup and ramp-up.
  • Perform hands-on operations, including equipment setup, cleaning, sanitization, and monitoring in the assigned area.
  • Run and monitor critical process tasks according to assigned procedures.
  • Perform in-process sampling, operate analytical equipment, and complete electronic batch records.
  • Complete washroom activities involving cleaning production equipment from small to large scale.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and optimizations related to routine functions.
  • Assist in reviewing equipment logs, electronic batch records, electronic standard procedures, and other assigned documentation.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Facilities and Engineering, Production Planning and Inventory Control, Manufacturing, Process Development, and Regulatory teams to complete production activities.
  • Participate in implementing programs and corrective and preventive actions for continuous improvement.
  • Drive safety in operations and assist the manager in escalating concerns.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and workable space.
  • Draft and revise standard operating procedures, technical reports, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Interact with management as an advisor in planning and escalating potential schedule or process concerns.
  • Transition from startup-focused operational readiness and training to routine manufacturing execution and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of the North Carolina BioWork Certificate Program.
  • Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical plant startup.
  • Knowledge and process experience within a current good manufacturing practice manufacturing facility or another highly regulated environment.
  • Basic understanding of upstream operations, including vial thaw, inoculation and cell expansion, single-use bioreactors, production bioreactors, alternating tangential flow, harvest centrifuges, and depth filtration.
  • Technical verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic systems such as electronic batch records, manufacturing execution systems, DeltaV, and electronic quality systems.

Amgen to open new science and innovation centre in Hyderabad's Genome Valley

Amgen announced plans to open a new Science and Innovation Center in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, expected to be operational in 2027. The facility will join Amgen's global Research and Development network of seven research laboratories, expanding the company's scientific capabilities. The center will bring together scientists and technologists across discovery chemistry, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, and precision medicine. It will integrate experimental science with data and digital innovation to accelerate the discovery and development of medicines. "The new center in Genome Valley expands the way we integrate experimental science with data and technology across our global research capabilities," said Jay Bradner, executive vice president of Research and Development, Artificial Intelligence and Data at Amgen. The facility will complement Amgen's existing technology and innovation site in Hyderabad.
