Requirements
  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of public health research and evaluation to analyze, evaluate, and provide expert advice and consultation.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, applications, and state-of-the-art technology in the position's scientific area of responsibility to provide direction and guidance on critical and complex issues.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to make clear, convincing presentations.
  • Knowledge of the rules, procedures, and principles that govern intramural and extramural program development, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making, with the ability to work independently and multitask successfully.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
  • High organization and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience providing public health data analysis and manipulating, cleaning, and reporting data using a variety of statistical functions.
  • Professional working knowledge of R and/or Python.
  • Knowledge of data management systems and data management software.
  • Previous experience working with government procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Medical Product Safety Branch while working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop analytic plans for research studies using large, relational administrative datasets to address medication safety questions and inform digital quality measures.
  • Perform data analysis of large datasets using R and/or Python and attend training on new programming languages as needed.
  • Translate SAS code to R.
  • Serve as an analyst, independently or as part of a team, on public health programs, projects, and studies.
  • Provide consultation support on program standards, policies, strategies, goals, and evaluation plans.
  • Participate in CDC response activities and training exercises under the direction of the DHQP Team Lead, including staffing the EOC desk to support the CDC's mission.

  • Prior experience working with the CDC.
