Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or institution, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • A solid accounting foundation and comfort working with recurring accounting processes and supporting schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational and time management skills with excellent follow-through.
  • Problem-solving ability and a curious, thoughtful approach to investigating issues and supporting resolution.
  • Comfort working in a structured, deadline-driven, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and record journal entries and supporting documentation for a variety of accounting transactions.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations, and investigate reconciling items as needed.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Support accounting processes related to claims, reinsurance, cash activity, and other operational accounting functions.
  • Review and validate data received from internal and external sources to support accurate accounting and reporting.
  • Develop an understanding of how data flows through accounting systems to identify issues and support timely resolution.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal teams and external business partners to resolve discrepancies and support ongoing accounting operations.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and supporting documentation for assigned accounting activities.
  • Support department deadlines and deliverables.
  • Assist with audit requests, special projects, and ad hoc accounting and reporting assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Insurance industry experience, preferably in Accident & Health, specialty insurance, claims accounting, and/or reinsurance accounting.
  • Experience in a larger company or corporate accounting environment.
