About the job
- A Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited university or an equivalent degree recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
- At least 15 years of related experience with feeders, piping, and feeder or pipe support design and analysis in a heavy industrial environment such as mining, oil and gas, or nuclear power.
- At least 15 years of stress-analysis experience involving pressure-boundary components under deadweight, thermal, and seismic conditions.
- Experience using finite element analysis with ANSYS Mechanical APDL.
- Working knowledge of CSA N285, CSA B51, CSA N289, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III Division 1, ASME B31.1, and other applicable standards or regulatory guides.
- General knowledge of CANDU nuclear mechanical and feeder or piping systems or equipment.
- Experience working with other engineers to complete highly technical integrated tasks.
- The ability to work independently while actively supporting project teams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical-writing skills.
- Willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker.
- Support multiple teams by modeling complex piping and support arrangements using finite element techniques.
- Perform thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear, and nonlinear analyses in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III Division 1 requirements.
- Perform complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, calculations, design specifications, design and analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, procurement, fabrication and site-installation specifications, data sheets, system classification lists, code classifications, and commissioning specifications.
- Prepare and review registration packages for pressure-boundary components.
- Interface with regulatory bodies including TSSA, ISCIR, CNCAN, and CNSC as required.
- Provide technical guidance and instruction to designers, drafters, and engineers.
- Provide prompt engineering responses and resolutions for critical engineering matters.
- Take a senior technical role within a group of stress engineers and analysts working on multiple CANDU 6 retube reactor-component tasks.
- Define work scope, prepare budget estimates and schedules, and report progress.
- Report project performance updates to engineering or project management for assigned scopes and tasks.
- Perform engineering work in accordance with AtkinsRéalis and Candu Energy quality-assurance programs and applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines or departments.
- Interact effectively with clients at all levels of the client organization.
- Qualification or eligibility for qualification as ASME Appendix XXIII.
- Design-engineering experience in nuclear piping systems.
- Experience with ANSYS Workbench.
- Experience with other finite element analysis software such as LS-DYNA.

1%The Society of Professional Engineers and Associates (SPEA) says AtkinsRéalis' strong second-quarter nuclear results underscore the value of engineers driving that growth. The company's nuclear segment generated $671.2 million in revenue, up 18.3% year-over-year, whilst Nuclear Segment Adjusted EBIT rose 20.8% to $77.0 million. AtkinsRéalis raised its full-year 2026 nuclear revenue outlook to approximately $2.7 billion from $2.5 billion. SPEA's collective agreements with Candu Energy, an AtkinsRéalis subsidiary, expire at year-end. SPEA President Mark Chudak said fair agreements must recognise employees' contributions. The results follow Canada's June nuclear strategy, which targets building up to 10 new large-scale reactors and establishing at least four international markets for Canadian reactor technology by 2040.
AtkinsRéalis reported second quarter 2026 revenue of $3.0 billion, up 10% year-over-year, with segment adjusted EBIT increasing 10% to $271.4 million. The engineering services and nuclear company achieved a quarterly record adjusted EBITDA of $292.9 million, up 14%. Diluted earnings per share reached $0.59, whilst adjusted diluted EPS rose 20% to $0.97. The company generated $83.5 million in net cash from operating activities and held a backlog of $20.2 billion at quarter's end. Nuclear revenue grew 18% to $671.2 million, prompting the company to raise its full-year nuclear revenue outlook to approximately $2.7 billion from $2.5 billion. Engineering services regions revenue increased 5% to $2.0 billion. AtkinsRéalis returned $245.0 million to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends during the quarter.
AtkinsRéalis has appointed Amy Bunszel and Bill Ruh to its board of directors, effective 13 July 2026. The appointments aim to strengthen the board's capabilities in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies. Bunszel is executive vice president of Autodesk's Architecture, Engineering and Construction business, overseeing a global software portfolio and a team of more than 2,000 professionals. She has over 25 years of experience leading product and digital transformations. Ruh is a technology executive with more than 35 years of experience in digital transformation. He previously served as CEO of GE Digital and chief digital officer at General Electric, where he led industrial digital transformations and deployed AI and cloud platforms. AtkinsRéalis Group has announced Byron Bright will become President, US, on 1 July 2026, succeeding Steve Morriss, who will continue leading the global Minerals & Metals business until year-end. The company has also been appointed by EDF and Sizewell C Limited to a long-term professional services framework for UK nuclear projects. The appointments reinforce AtkinsRéalis' position in nuclear, transport and infrastructure sectors, supporting a multiyear stream of UK nuclear work.
