  • A minimum of one year of related experience or customer service experience is required.

  • A valid Ontario Class G driver's license, personal vehicle, vehicle insurance, and a current satisfactory driver's abstract are required.

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced office setting, with attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and analytical skills, is required.
  • Ability to lift or move 9 to 12 kilograms (20 to 25 pounds) is required.

  • Good listening skills and strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to comply with occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures is required.

Responsibilities
  • Attend a day of training or orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Help deliver kettles to zone locations before staff or volunteers arrive at the start of the campaign.
  • Ensure all kettle donations are delivered to a secure location at the end of each shift.
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Orient staff and volunteers and remind them of proper kettle handling and duties as needed.
  • Supervise, support, and assign staff and volunteers throughout the campaign as needed.
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and on a weekly basis.
  • Remain at the kettle for the full shift until relieved and ensure the security of donations received.
  • Respond to potential donors' questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs.
  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign workers and volunteers.
  • Oversee campaign operations, including scheduling staff and volunteers.
  • Participate in recruiting kettle worker staff and volunteers.
  • Provide orientation and performance management for kettle worker staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate schedules for kettle staff and volunteers and respond to emergency absences.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.
  • Coordinate daily delivery and pickup of kettles to and from sites, ensuring donations remain secure; deliver or pick up kettles in emergencies as needed.
  • Host at a kettle as required to ensure coverage for breaks.
  • Ensure kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature and other materials.
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets as required.
  • After the campaign, organize retrieval of equipment and supplies from kettle locations.
  • Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations remain secure.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
