  • The role requires the ability to perform physical activities including using ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts, and similar access equipment; moving into different positions and between worksites; remaining stationary for prolonged periods; and moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 10 pounds in all directions.
  • The role requires communicating with others to exchange information and working in office, industrial, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, noisy, chemical-odor or fume, and demanding, fast-paced environments.
  • The role requires reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs, reporting equipment or safety issues, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Travel between Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Gillette, Wyoming, is required during design and construction, with occasional vendor and engineering partner travel for design reviews, factory acceptance testing, and project meetings. Following relocation to Gillette, travel is expected to be less than 10%.
  • The role occasionally requires schedule flexibility, seldom requires weekend work, and may require extended hours during commissioning, startup, and critical project milestones.
  • Candidates must be authorized by the Department of Energy to access information controlled under 10 CFR Part 810. Foreign nationals who are citizens of countries not on the Department of Energy's general authorization list may not work in the facility unless the Department of Energy issues an export control license permitting access.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • Nuclear industry, fuel cycle, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing experience is preferred.

About the Company

Kairos Power

Develops fluoride-salt cooled high-temperature reactor

Kairos Power develops the KP-FHR, a fluoride salt-cooled high-temperature reactor that uses TRISO fuel to generate electricity at low pressure. Heat from the fuel moves through a single-pass molten fluoride salt loop to a power cycle, keeping the reactor at low pressure to simplify containment. The company uses a vertically integrated, iterative path by building test units and demonstration plants to de-risk licensing, manufacturing, and construction before commercial deployment. Its goal is to provide clean, reliable, cost-competitive electricity, with Hermes being demonstrated in Oak Ridge and partnerships with Google and TVA guiding early deployment.
