Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience engineering production-grade artificial intelligence and machine learning systems is required, or at least 3 years with a Master's or Ph.D.
  • Hands-on experience fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying open-source and proprietary large language models, embedding models, and vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant, and FAISS is required.
  • Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex, and modern application programming interface frameworks such as FastAPI and RESTful APIs is required.
  • Experience working with complex structured and unstructured data sources, SQL, NoSQL, graph databases, and data lakes is required.
  • The candidate must hold an active United States Government Secret clearance or higher and be eligible to obtain TS/SCI access.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate technical artificial intelligence concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, scientific subject matter experts, and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems and large language model agents to query, summarize, and synthesize insights across large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Build semantic search engines integrating internal legacy databases, data lakes, open-source repositories, and subscription-based scientific literature through application programming interfaces.
  • Implement natural language translation, automated document classification, and multi-document summarization to support science and technology gap analysis.
  • Develop intelligent chatbots and virtual agents that deliver automated, role-based recommendations, career path mapping, and skills gap analysis for enterprise workforces.
  • Build natural-language-processing-driven tasking models that ingest natural language inquiries, query underlying enterprise data sources, and draft contextual responses with audit trails for records-management compliance.
  • Design machine learning algorithms, including anomaly detection, predictive modeling, and causal inference, to identify project risks, optimize resource allocation, and forecast financial and technical shifts.
  • Collaborate with user interface/user experience and data engineers to build interactive, role-based dashboards supporting natural language querying and drill-down analytics for leadership decision-making.
  • Design automated ingestion and extract-transform-load/extract-load-transform pipelines using natural language processing and pattern recognition to transform disparate data formats into a standardized, unified Data Fabric schema.
  • Implement robust Explainable Artificial Intelligence techniques to ensure transparency and trustworthiness of model recommendations.
  • Ensure all artificial intelligence models, application programming interfaces, and data storage solutions adhere to Department of Defense security regulations, including NIST, FedRAMP, and the Risk Management Framework, across multiple classification levels.
  • Connect artificial intelligence models with existing legacy software, application programming interfaces, and document management systems.
  • Turn complex, noisy, multidimensional data into intuitive, actionable insights.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deploying artificial intelligence applications within Department of Defense, Air Force, or federal agency environments is preferred, including CAC/PKI integration and IL4, IL5, or IL6 cloud environments.
  • A proven track record building Explainable Artificial Intelligence architectures for leadership decision support is preferred.
  • A background developing artificial intelligence solutions for human resources systems, workflow management software, or scientific and academic literature indexing is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS GovCloud and Azure Government is preferred.
  • Experience with containerized deployment technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
