Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • Maintain certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
  • Have at least two years of experience in sterile processing and/or the operating room.
  • Have knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices.
  • Have knowledge of instrument names, functions, and specialty sets.
  • Have organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Be able to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, maintaining corrected 20/40 vision and hearing acuity, and working rotating shifts and overtime as required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality systems within the Sterile Processing Department.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote patient safety.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reprocessing practices, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution.
  • Maintain documentation and records related to sterile processing quality systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced certification such as Certified Instrument Specialist, Certified Endoscope Reprocessor, or Certified Healthcare Leader is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and/or education experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems is preferred.
