Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably with a specialization in sports management, journalism, communications, business, or a related field, is typically required.
  • Experience working in university athletics within a sports information office is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, is required.
  • Working knowledge of video editing software, including Final Cut Pro and Premiere, is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is required.
  • Experience with NCAA statistical software, including StatCrew and NCAA Live Stats, is required.
  • Ability to type and enter media and statistical information is required.
  • Experience developing social media and digital media marketing campaigns is required.
  • Ability to supervise creative, communications, and technical personnel is required.
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving dependencies, deadlines, budgets, and outside resources is required.
  • Ability to implement marketing and communication principles and strategies in video projects is required.
  • Ability to initiate ideas, develop concepts, and review process effectiveness to maintain professional standards and quality is required.
  • Ability to assess internal client needs and recommend appropriate measures is required.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with internal and external constituencies is required.
  • Ability to operate in an environment requiring relationship management and consensus-building is required.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports incorporating complex, highly technical information is required.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead information provider for assigned sports and create, develop, and post digital content and assets for athletics online, mobile, and social channels.
  • Compile and exchange statistical information with the NCAA, West Coast Conference, Collegiate Sports Communicators, other schools, and partners.
  • Oversee game management for home athletic events, including content for scoreboards, websites, and social media.
  • Supervise gameday staff, student workers, and interns as assigned.
  • Oversee credentialing and manage the press box and scorer's table for assigned sports.
  • Serve as the information, statistical, and record-keeping liaison with the NCAA, West Coast Conference, and other outlets.
  • Prepare and highlight milestones and achievements for promotional purposes.
  • Update the athletics department website, including team rosters, staff and student-athlete biographies, schedules, and news stories.
  • Execute the athletics social media strategy, work with teams, and monitor individual sport social media channels.
  • Write, edit, and produce creative materials such as game-day promotion flyers, programs, record books, game notes, and other assigned materials.
  • Write, edit, and distribute news advisories to local, regional, and national print, broadcast, digital, and internal university audiences.
  • Support and execute detailed marketing plans for assigned sports, including ticket revenue programs.
  • Coordinate implementation of specific sport plans with the Director of Sports Information.
  • Travel with various teams as the athletics department's sports information representative.
  • Plan special events, participate in special committees, manage vendors and contractors, and represent athletics in professional organizations and community events.
  • Complete required rules compliance information.
  • Participate in annual evaluations of rules compliance with the immediate supervisor.
  • Conduct annual rules-compliance evaluations with assigned personnel.
  • Perform other assigned or requested duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic website management or editing experience is preferred.
  • Samples of graphic design work are preferred.
