Eastman brings Adjust(TM) SL plant growth regulator to U.S. growers.

Eastman brings Adjust(TM) SL plant growth regulator to U.S. growers. 02 Sep 2026 Eastman Adjust SL plant growth regulator is now available in the United States. Adjust SL offers a wider application window than other plant growth regulators (PGRs) and effective performance in low-temperature conditions. Now registered for use in wheat, barley, oats and triticale in the U.S., Adjust SL brings growers a proven chlormequat chloride solution. "For many years, growers in Europe and Canada have benefited from the flexibility and performance that our chlormequat chloride solutions provide," said Khalid El Ouadi, market development manager at Eastman. "We are excited to bring this proven technology to U.S. growers and provide another tool to help them manage cereal crops across a range of growing conditions." Adjust SL helps growers build stronger, more resilient cereal crops by increasing stem strength and reducing stem height. By helping prevent lodging, the product supports harvest efficiency, protects crop quality and helps maximize yield potential. The main feature that sets Adjust SL apart from other PGRs is its ability to perform effectively under cool growing conditions. The product's formulation enables crop response at temperatures as low as 34°F (1.1°C), supporting early-season applications when roots and tillers are being established. The product's ability to perform in cool conditions, combined with its extended activity in the crop, gives growers greater flexibility across both early and late growth stages. The result is a wider application window than other PGRs. Eastman will showcase Adjust SL March 3-5, 2027, at the Commodity Classic agriculture trade show in New Orleans. KANEBO selects Eastman Cristal(TM) One IM812 for luxury protective cap packaging.

KANEBO selects Eastman Cristal(TM) One IM812 for luxury protective cap packaging. Aug 05, 2026, 22:04 ET A high-end cosmetics brand chose recyclable material for a protective cap that offers aesthetics, durability, and sustainability. KINGSPORT, Tenn., August 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - The prestigious Japanese cosmetics brand KANEBO has selected Eastman Cristal(TM) One IM812 special PET resin for the cap of its new Generating Essentials treatment lotion. "Rooted in KANEBO's 'Progressive Care' philosophy and our message 'Beyond beauty, KANEBO instills hope,' this lotion reflects our approach to caring for the skin at different stages of life, rather than focusing on anti-aging," said Shinsuke Magai, designer at KANEBO. "We wanted the packaging to embody that philosophy through a design that conveys both refinement and progress." For the thick-walled black cap, KANEBO needed a material that met demanding performance and design requirements, especially given the cap's robustness. Cristal One IM812 overcame this challenge by passing drop impact tests and maintaining the necessary strength after post-molding painting. Cristal One IM812 delivered the precise aesthetics KANEBO had envisioned: a clean, high-quality black with the right gloss and a subtle transition from an opaque black to a more transparent black gradient at the top. This combination of strength, transparency, and color precision helped create a premium, refined appearance without making the package seem too heavy. "From an engineering perspective, this package required careful alignment of material performance, processing, and finishing," said Shota Kawasaki, packaging engineer at KANEBO. "We evaluated several candidate materials, and Cristal One IM812 proved to be the best choice for our needs." This specialized material can be injection molded and is designed to provide high transparency and strength for high-end cosmetic components. KANEBO selected this special PET resin for its sustainability benefits, as it is recyclable in the PET recycling stream. Although compliance with the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) was not an immediate requirement for a product sold mainly in Asian markets, KANEBO chose to go a step further and adopt a material that aligns with future regulatory expectations. The market response has been positive since the lotion's launch in January 2026, and KANEBO plans to expand the use of Cristal One Renew IM812 in its upcoming products. "KANEBO's adoption of Cristal One IM812 for its product caps is very significant for Eastman," said Tara Cary, Eastman's marketing manager for cosmetics and personal care packaging. "This commercial example demonstrates how Eastman's materials can help beauty brands tackle the challenge of combining sustainability with impeccable appearance, durability, and functionality." Kao, KANEBO's parent company, has collaborated with Eastman for many years. This long-standing relationship, resulting from collaboration on Eastman's material innovations, reflects Kao's trust in Eastman's global technical support and material expertise for cosmetic packaging that demands premium finishes and reliable performance. About KANEBO KANEBO is a prestigious Japanese cosmetics brand that conveys a message of hope, not just beauty. Focused on skincare, the brand also offers a full line of makeup products. Image source: Eastman The report reveals that Eastman's second-quarter sales climbed 10% year-over-year and 15% quarter-over-quarter. This growth was primarily driven by a 5% increase in volume and product mix, alongside a 4% rise in selling prices. Bolstered by wider spreads and disciplined pricing and cost management, the adjusted EBIT margin expanded by 350 basis points sequentially. Diluted earnings per share stood at $1.59, up from $1.20 in the same period last year. Across business segments, most saw volume gains. Chemical Intermediates led the charge with a 39% surge in sales, fueled by a 24% jump in volume and mix and a 14% increase in pricing. Specialty Materials revenue rose 5%, supported by a 4% improvement in volume and mix along with favorable foreign exchange rates. Additives & Functional Materials also posted a 5% sales increase, driven by a 4% price hike under cost pass-through agreements. Conversely, the Fibers segment reported an 11% decline in sales, weighed down by ongoing destocking of acetate tow and sluggish end markets for textiles. On the cash flow front, Eastman generated $224 million from operating activities in the second quarter and returned $96 million to shareholders through dividends. The company is progressing toward a cost-savings target of $125 million to $150 million (adjusted for inflation) and anticipates releasing working capital in the second half of 2026. Looking ahead, Chairman and CEO Mark Costa noted that the team demonstrated flexibility in the first half of 2026 and is now focused on solidifying that momentum. The company projects third-quarter adjusted EPS will be roughly in line with the $1.97 achieved in the second quarter. Earnings in Specialty Materials are expected to improve, while Chemical Intermediates may see a slight dip as the impact of supply chain disruptions eases.
