Requirements
  • A master's degree in a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 9 years of related and progressive administrative experience at the point of hire.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level, along with extensive knowledge in curriculum design and development, program planning, marketing, public speaking, and budget management.
  • The ability to cultivate and foster a collegial, collaborative environment and work with the applicable sector.
  • Effective leadership and team-building skills.
  • A learner-centered approach to the teaching and learning process.
  • The ability to establish alliances with the related occupational community.
Responsibilities
  • Provide broad academic leadership to the programs within the school and ensure program objectives are attained through effective supervision of teaching and learning processes.
  • Recommend the school's strategic plan, goals, and objectives to the Dean.
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing the school's strategic plan as part of the College's academic planning process.
  • Plan and administer the school's programs and services.
  • Lead the development and approval of new academic programs and review existing programs in response to market pressures, technological changes, employment opportunities, industry standards, and College and Ministry guidelines.
  • Ensure appropriate learning resources and maintain close contact with the external community, advisory committee, and other educational institutions.
  • Develop new program initiatives, partnerships, strategic alliances, and alternative learning and delivery strategies.
  • Review programs, determine needed course or program modifications, and introduce new programs to meet students' educational needs.
  • Chair committees, represent the school on College-wide and provincial committees, hold executive positions as assigned, and facilitate College-wide initiatives.
  • Develop community linkages and partnership arrangements through advisory committees, agreements, and projects.
  • Advise and counsel students, help resolve problems, and coordinate crisis-management strategies for vulnerable students.
  • Support accommodation requirements under the Ontario Human Rights Code to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to educational services.
  • Recruit, select, develop, motivate, evaluate, and train faculty and support staff within the assigned portfolio.
  • Promote and monitor professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Direct and administer faculty teaching assignments and complementary functions, ensuring assignments comply with College policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations and initiate problem-solving and dispute-resolution processes involving faculty, staff, and students.
  • Participate as an administrative representative in the formal student appeal procedure.
  • Establish a working environment that encourages respect, creativity, communication, and interaction among faculty and support staff.
  • Recommend disciplinary and termination action as required.
  • Conduct curriculum reviews and implement curriculum initiatives.
  • Establish program learning outcomes and strategic alliances in accordance with College and Ministry policies.
  • Seek and promote initiatives that meet changing business and industry needs and College goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with advisory committee members, professional associations, and business, industry, and government representatives.
  • Coordinate partnership arrangements with educational institutions and promote them within the College and external community.
  • Develop, monitor, and direct school or faculty budget activity and report budget status to the Dean.
  • Project student enrolment, develop budget submissions for available external grants, and determine related expenditures.
  • Ensure effective use and appropriate reallocation of human, physical, and financial resources.
  • Oversee the planning, generation, and accuracy of course-loading data, student timetables, calendar materials, and programs of study.
  • Implement and maintain Occupational Health and Safety and Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements.
  • Assist the Dean with special projects and represent the Dean at assigned functions and activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Subject matter expertise in aviation or aerospace training.
  • Familiarity with Transport Canada regulatory frameworks and delivery of accredited aviation programs.
