Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse and is currently registered in the state of the community.
  • Must obtain valid continuing education credits as required by the state of the community.
  • Completed training in Alzheimer’s and dementia care with a focus on Validation Therapy.
  • At least one year of nursing experience in a health care facility is required.
  • Experience in emergency care and first aid.
  • Able to communicate effectively with management, associates, residents, family members, and outside contacts.
  • Able to make independent decisions.
  • Able to seek out new methods and incorporate them into existing practices when applicable.
  • Must disclose any medication that might impair the ability to perform the job safely or competently.
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
Responsibilities
  • Provides direct and individual nursing care to assigned residents according to nursing standards and under the supervision of the Director of Resident Care.
  • Ensures the quality and safe delivery of health services to residents.
  • Implements the plan of care formulated by the physician and Director of Resident Care.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation of care given.
  • Assesses residents and provides resident and family or caregiver information pertinent to the diagnosis or plan of care.
  • Administers medication according to physician orders, documents it on the medication administration record, observes for adverse reactions, and notifies the physician accordingly.
  • Assembles resident charts and records and verifies that all necessary forms are complete and accurate.
  • Prepares incident and accident reports as needed, notifies the physician and family after incidents or accidents according to policy, and documents appropriately.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy working environment and uses safe work methods and procedures in accordance with clinical standards.
  • Assists residents in learning appropriate self-care activities.
  • Organizes and monitors the associates and material resources necessary to meet the needs of residents under the role’s care.
  • Recognizes emergencies and life-threatening situations and initiates appropriate action.
  • Maintains confidentiality and resident rights regarding personal information.
  • Leads by example and exhibits the organization’s core values through servant leadership.
  • Encourages teamwork and promotes the company philosophy.
  • Attends required community meetings and participates in Life Enrichment activities when able.
  • Completes all required courses in adherence with HRA University.
  • Reports a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalent when necessary.
  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for community residents.
  • Performs other duties requested by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a long-term care community and/or geriatric nursing facility is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook software is preferred.
