  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Must hold membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to a rostered patient population.
  • Work within a team-based care model alongside physicians, a nurse practitioner, and nursing staff.
  • Examine patients and take their histories.
  • Order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures.
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Consult and refer patients to other medical practitioners.
  • Act as a patient’s advocate.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations.
  • Report births, deaths, contagious diseases, and other diseases as required by Nova Scotia Public Health.

  • Opportunity to build and expand an established patient panel.
  • Participation in minor in-office procedures using a dedicated procedure room.
  • Flexibility to offer extended hours or additional services.
  • Engagement on a full-time or near full-time basis of 0.8 FTE or greater.
