Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commercial or industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, controls installation, or construction environment.
  • Experience with large mechanical projects, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, preferably large central plants including chillers and boilers, and controls.
  • Ability to pass and maintain background checks for access into primary schools and universities.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10 or 30 certification.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid certification.
  • Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write correspondence and present information to customers, clients, and employees.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and frequently in the field.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide daily on-site work direction to subcontractors, technicians, designers, and administrative personnel as necessary.
  • Under the Project Manager’s direction, manage and execute turnkey projects and controls installations through successful completion, including compliance with plans and specifications, safety, contract scope and budget, schedule, material procurement, billing, and collection.
  • Understand the plans and specifications for assigned projects with the Project Manager.
  • Alert the Project Manager to potential requests for information based on drawing and specification reviews and site conditions.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure tasks are completed accurately, on time, and within the contract scope.
  • Communicate issues, barriers, and concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Evaluate the contractual scope of work and communicate opportunities for additional work to the Project Manager.
  • Communicate technical and business-related issues to customers.
  • Review labor and material cost plans and specifications for work performance.
  • Review equipment selections and submittals to ensure they meet contract requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment and material deliveries and inspect equipment upon delivery, reporting damage immediately.
  • Schedule equipment and materials for procurement for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate mechanical, controls, and electrical subcontractor work, including scope.
  • Review subcontractor equipment and material submittals to ensure they meet contract requirements.
  • Represent Texas Air Systems as a primary on-site leader for assigned project execution.
  • Communicate with owners, architects, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants, and general, mechanical, and electrical contractors throughout project phases.
  • Manage risk and establish project recovery plans when required.
  • Resolve disputes with minimal escalation.
  • Ensure project document controls and deliverables follow contract requirements and standards.
  • Ensure controls technicians load, verify devices, and commission system controllers.
  • Drive the controls pre-commissioning process and participate in final commissioning with the commissioning agent.
  • Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades.
  • Request and review as-built and commissioning documentation.
  • Assist installers with interpretations of electrical and controls drawings and controls wiring termination as required.
  • Use project management software to punch assigned projects and coordinate subcontractors to complete punch-list items.
  • Participate in general contractor and owner punch walks.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, customers, consultants, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Attend job progress meetings as required.
  • Administer the warranty process and evaluate warranty requests, coordinating resources to resolve claims.
  • Serve as a resource for customers and owners through continuing training and assist with systems troubleshooting after project closeout.
  • Ensure job-site personnel and subcontractors adhere to internal safety programs and Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
  • Oversee multiple projects on an ongoing basis and walk job sites as needed.
  • Protect and mitigate liability.
  • Support and participate in company safety training and programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines and systems.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with project management software, including PlanGrid, BIM 360, and Procore.
  • Bilingual Spanish language skills.
