  • Prepare, substantiate, and post routine and complex journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, allocations, corrections, and other adjusting entries, with clear supporting schedules and approved documentation.
  • Own prepaid expense schedules by identifying and recording prepaid costs, determining appropriate allocation periods, calculating and posting recurring amortization entries, and reconciling balances monthly.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and supporting records; evaluate capitalization under GLIDE policy; record acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation; and reconcile fixed assets and accumulated depreciation to the general ledger.
  • Prepare and review assigned balance sheet account reconciliations; research and resolve reconciling items; maintain roll-forward schedules; and escalate unusual or aged balances.
  • Execute assigned monthly, quarterly, and year-end close tasks by established deadlines, including reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and review of account coding and completeness.
  • Analyze financial statements and account-level fluctuations, investigate unusual transactions, and propose corrections; support accurate nonprofit financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and GLIDE policies.
  • Calculate and record in-kind contributions when supported by appropriate documentation and applicable accounting guidance; coordinate with Fund Development on classification and valuation.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready workpapers for journal entries, receivables, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets; respond to financial audit, single audit, and grantor review requests as assigned.

About the company

GLIDE is a non-profit organization in San Francisco that provides a wide range of services to people who are poor or unhoused, including those who are working poor. It offers meals, shelter, housing support, addiction recovery help, violence prevention, and other social services designed to help individuals move from hardship toward self-sufficiency and personal and spiritual growth. The organization works by delivering on-the-ground programs and support tailored to individual needs, guided by a belief in the dignity of every person and a commitment to giving people second chances no matter how many times they fall. GLIDE’s programs began in 1969 as a simple Monday-night meal for street people and have grown into one of the city’s largest and most comprehensive providers of services for marginalized communities. Its goal is to reduce barriers created by poverty and lack of self-worth, helping people recover, rehabilitate, and build a more stable life.

What believers are saying

  • GLIDE raised $27 million in April 2026 through the Buffett-Curry lunch auction.
  • SF funded a $150,000 Community Challenge Grant in April 2026 for Tenderloin cleanups.
  • Gap Inc. and GLIDE expanded 2025-2026 family and holiday programs, proving strong sponsor pull.

What critics are saying

  • GLIDE depends on SF government contracts like HSH; FY2027 budget pressure hits staffing fast.
  • Fundraising depends on headline events like the May 2026 Buffett-Curry auction and corporate sponsors.
  • Tenderloin overdose and street disorder keep demand high; one funding shock would crush service delivery.

What makes GLIDE unique

  • GLIDE runs 24/7 TAY Health and Wellness Center at 888 Post, opened January 29, 2026.
  • Its barbershop-plus-care model, launched in 2026, ties haircuts directly to health services.
  • GLIDE combines church, shelter, and advocacy, making it unusually sticky in the Tenderloin.
