Requirements
  • A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License
  • Four years of full-time experience in civil engineering
  • A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in civil engineering
  • To be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
Responsibilities
  • Perform supervisory work in the discipline of civil engineering.
  • Plan, assign and evaluate subordinates’ work for preparation of progress reports.
  • Represent Bus Operations in relations with State/City agencies, consultants, contractors and damage claimants.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of the fundamental/complex portions of the design plan for major projects such as construction, remodeling, operation, maintenance or repair of structures or installations.
  • Monitor field survey and construction inspection to ensure compliance with technical codes and/or contract specifications.
  • Perform design assessments/cost estimate for issuance of technical reports and modification requests.
  • Inspect equipment and material for acceptance and process payments.
  • Interpret architectural,electricaland mechanical layouts/design plans for establishment/preparation of engineering criteria, contract drawingsand technical specifications.
  • Participate in engineering investigations and generate reports as directed.

  • Strong technical knowledge and practical application of civil engineering principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage assigned projects effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment from start to finish with appropriate oversight.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skill with working knowledge of building systems and site requirements, including structural, MEP and geotechnical considerations.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD Software and computer programs such as Bentley Micro Station and Microsoft Office.
