Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist program and current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the Mississippi Board of Nursing or another state; students must be within 180 days, in their last semester, of graduation.
  • Must be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at the time of hire.
  • Knowledge of agents, equipment, procedures, and techniques for providing anesthesia to patients.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patient care needs and provide anesthetic care for surgical patients.
  • Administer medically directed local, general, inhalation, regional, intravenous, monitored, and other anesthetics for surgical, obstetrical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Consult preoperatively with patients regarding anesthetic needs, monitor patients' reactions to anesthesia, and adjust care accordingly.
  • Provide patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatments and procedures.
  • Evaluate patients preoperatively to assess physical status and anesthetic risks and prepare them for anesthetic treatment.
  • Respond to critical patient care needs related to invasive monitoring, intravenous access, and airway management.
  • Conduct pre- and post-anesthesia evaluations, including explaining the plan, obtaining informed consent, and following up on postoperative complications.
  • Educate, instruct, and mentor student nurse anesthetists, residents, and other allied health professionals.
  • Contribute to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others upon request.
  • Report case-based quality and safety issues and develop and evaluate improvement measures to ensure safety and performance improvement.
