Cloud Engineer
About the job
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- At least 7 years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong focus on AWS services.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility.
- Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-native applications.
- Strong understanding of application migration strategies and tools.
- Knowledge of AWS services including S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, and QuickSight, along with AWS best practices.
- Experience with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes, and with serverless architectures.
- Skills in infrastructure as code, developing automated deployment and orchestration solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and other scripting tools.
- Ability to engage effectively with customers and teams.
- The role is hybrid, with on-site support in Suitland, Maryland and remote work.
- Conduct cloud readiness assessments and create migration plans to facilitate transitions to AWS.
- Design and architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions on AWS using cloud-native technologies.
- Support the architecture and implementation of large-scale cloud-native data-processing ETL workloads using AWS services.
- Provide subject-matter-expert recommendations for big-data storage solutions, installations, and configurations while ensuring scalability.
- Support analysis, architecture, design, development, administration, capacity and storage planning, implementation, and operations for multi-terabyte scalable enterprise backend database systems.
- Support migrations from on-premises computing infrastructure to AWS while ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and high availability.
- Provide guidance on best practices for cloud application design, deployment, and optimization, including infrastructure as code.
- Engage with customers to gather requirements, understand application architectures, and provide tailored cloud migration strategies; collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment of applications and services.
- Configure and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines to automate builds, testing, and deployment in the AWS environment.
- Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to enhance service offerings.
- Lead and mentor team members in implementing cloud solutions and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
- Review security scans, accessibility audits, and performance testing for cybersecurity compliance; review results, provide mitigation or improvement plans, and support remediation activities.
- AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting federal government organizations and missions is highly preferred.
