First Finish, LLC is a general contractor that handles fast-track hospitality renovations across the U.S. and the Caribbean. It manages every part of a hotel renovation—from initial pricing and preconstruction to model rooms, material sourcing, construction, interior finishes, and FF&E installation—delivering a complete project package under one roof. Projects are guided from pre-bid through completion, using defined schedules, problem solving, and strong client service. The company stands out by offering a full, multi-phase service with licensed expertise across 26 states and Washington, D.C., often running 10–15 multi-million-dollar renovations at once, and by building close, long-term relationships with major hotel brands and owners. Its goal is to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget while earning clients’ trust and becoming their preferred contractor for hospitality renovations.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Shawmut's 2025 Inc. 5000 recognition signals growth momentum after the acquisition.
  • LinkedIn profiles in 2025 show First Finish still hiring under A Shawmut Company.
  • Hospitality renovation demand stays visible in ongoing W South Beach and Four Seasons projects.

What critics are saying

  • Luxury hotel renovations face budget cuts whenever owners defer capex during soft occupancy.
  • Integration into Shawmut can commoditize First Finish's brand and compress pricing power.
  • A hospitality downturn or project overruns would rapidly erase First Finish's post-sale rationale.

What makes First Finish unique

  • Shawmut's 2024 purchase pairs First Finish's luxury interiors with Shawmut's complex hotel construction expertise.
  • First Finish keeps Miami, Palm Beach, and Los Angeles hospitality work through Shawmut's platform.
  • President David Burman stayed on, preserving relationships after the October 31, 2024 closing.
