Autoscience builds AI-driven tools to automate machine learning research and development. Its core product is a virtual AI laboratory where non-human AI scientists ideate, test, and deploy new ML models. The platform uses two main AI systems: one that generates and evaluates algorithmic hypotheses and another that optimizes and ships validated inventions into production.

What believers are saying

  • General Catalyst led Autoscience’s $14 million seed round on March 18, 2026.
  • The March 2026 launch and July 2026 Mira pages show active product velocity.
  • Enterprise targets in finance, manufacturing, and fraud detection offer large budgets and urgent ROI.

What critics are saying

  • No public customers exist as of August 2026, so revenue proof remains absent.
  • Mira promises autonomous production deployments; one bad model update can trigger customer churn immediately.
  • OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and internal ML teams can replicate this workflow and crush pricing.

What makes Autoscience unique

  • Carl won an ICLR 2025 workshop paper and a Kaggle Silver Medal.
  • Mira targets hypothesis-to-deployment automation, not just paper generation, using production ML codebases.
  • Eliot Cowan’s X and MIT background gives Autoscience credibility in frontier research automation.
